General Discussion / Introducing Quietude
« on: June 07, 2011, 02:36:40 PM »
Quietude is a two member Hip Hop collective with poetic, jazzy, rhythm and blues roots. Their fresh interpretation of Hip Hop and R’nb is best described as a cocktail of their personalities brewed into a vibrant musical concoction that caters for the open minded, non-conformist lover of music as a whole.

Their sound at first is una**uming, but it takes mere moments for you to recognize their unique sound that expands the stereotypically boxed nature of Hip Hop and fluently bridges the gap between R’nB, Pop and that afro-centric jazzy feel which is contrary to the traditional boom-bap sound.

There are no textbooks or cla**room instructions that could help one balance the chemistry of their sound, however they insist that one can only discover them melodically as a diverse Hip Hop and R’nb group with a simple solution.

Their musical diversity sparked interests and secured them performances at Mzoli’s Place in Gugulethu (Cape Town), Bambatha Jazz Bar (Centurion), Capellos (Centurion), Shivava Café(Johannesburg); Aldo’s Lounge(Vosloorus); Evolokxion(Vosloo), Cla** Xtreme(Mamelodi), Caprivi Jazz Bar(Tembisa) and an invite to perform at The Momentum Aspire’s Pa**ion Playa Awards Ceremony (March 2009). They’ve also performed at the Tembisa Comedy Festival and the annual Tembisa Show Your Legs Festival.

They worked with Brainwave Projects Production on their debut album titled “The Arrival” that was released in December 2010 and they're currently working on a mixtape to be titled "Wylin Out". Although new in the Music industry they managed to share the stage with the likes of Khuli Chana(2010 Hype Awards Best Song), Kwesta(The New Buttabing Rapper), Zubs(The Legendary Golden Mic holder), Last Days Fam (2010 Hype Awards Best Hip-hop group), Sake Of Skill (2008 Hype Awards Best Mixtape winners), Sliq Angel (2004 South African Music Awards Best New Comer Nominee), just to name a few.
Their song Time Travel produced by Blknght(aka Jab a Jaw) features on DJ Papercutts I Rep My City Mixtape volume 1, For The Love produced by Nyambz features on the Hype Sessions Volume 33 which came with  the June/July 2010 issue of the Hype Magazine, and both songs are featured on the Hip Hop Kings Mixtape(Prelude) mixed by Dj Bling. Time Travel appeared on YFM’s Hot99, it reached the number 5 spot before it was play listed and  Never Grow Up went straight to the play list.
Achievements:
•Feature on the June/July Hype Sessions 2010
•Feature on the June/July Hype Magazine 2011
•Feature on Papercutt’s I Rep My City Mixtape
•Time Travel(produced by Blknght) reached the number 5 spot on YFM’s Hott99 Hip Hop Charts before it was playlisted
•Never Grow Up(produced by Trompie) was playlisted on YFM in December
•Style and Mace(produced by Nyambs) debuted on YFM’s Hott99 on the 20 January 2011.

•Home Of Hip Hop reached the number 1 spot on the Scratchbeats Hip Hop Charts in June 2011

They aspire to be an iconic brand in the future, penetrating not only the music scene but the entire art as a culture.
