Back to the city has really changed in terms of what that show used to be all about.

The lineup doesn't impress me much and the R50 doesn't justify it either, it seems to have lost alot of flava that made that a special kind of gig.

But anyway, enjoy that shit

We can speculate all we want, but the only thing that isn't a rumour or conjecture right now is that Solar was a shit producer. Everything else is just shit-talk.

TRUE THAT!!!

This from http://hiphopandpolitics.wordpress.com/2010/04/21/dj-premier-officially-responds-to-guru-and-addresses-the-letter-released-by-solar/

one of the comments that was in reply to the letter makes some sense, but again no clarification:

It is a tragic loss but I hope people will get real about homosexuality and the hip hop community. It is real. We are here.
Guru is said to have succumbed to multiple myeloma. This cancer is most commonly related to HIV and AIDS. I know. I have lost people close to me to this. (you can also Google it)
Guru’s sexuality and his death to a disease he most likely contracted 20+ years ago does not diminish his greatness. And before everyone turns Solar into Yoko, I think they should at least consider the fact that Guru didn’t feel like he was capable of coming “out” in the hip hop world.
From what I hear and from what Solar is confirming, Keith’s family did not and would not accept his sexuality. I find it interesting that no one here or elsewhere in hip hop will discuss it. I thought we were supposed to be open minded? Accepting? And you wonder why Prop 8 pa**ed in California? It only pa**ed because too many black people voted for it. This is a problem in our communities. Get real. AIDS is still real and plenty of black men are gay and in the closet. Dave, I know you know this.

to which Davey D replied:

I think alot of things are being discussed about Guru.. People are talking about his music, talking about his brilliance, his love of jazz..etc. People are also talking about his drinking and like it or not folks are talking about his relationship with Solar and the many questions it has raised. Much of this conversation has come about because of Solar himself, the secrecy around Guru’s condition, the contradictions and of course the letters.. If folks are upset be upset with Solar because he opened the door with his behavior..
In addition, many writers and DJs have been talking because the Guru of Gang starr days with him and Premier is not the same cat who with Solar. Lots of writers, promoters etc all have stories that range from upsetting to outright bizarre.. and like it or not one of the consistent narratives is what was the nature of the relationship..with people asking Were they lovers? Was Guru being abused? Hell Freddy Foxx put that out there yesterday in his statements. Alot of speculation has been out there before Guru pa**ed and heightened when he got ill and later pa**ed..
Nobody likes to see the image of their heroes tarnished. Sadly for us its been a long long time since we have NOT had someone pa** and there not be controversy surrounding their death..From Michael Jackson on down… Pick a name and folks have something to say.. even many of us..
Personally if Guru was gay I could care less and nor should you.. and I hope the responses being posted here are based around the desire to end speculation of any type and be on the level of Premier with our thoughts and remarks. If its bc of disdain and discomfort about sexuality, then thats another matter… Folks will have to deal with on their own..
I wish the family peace and offer up prayers I think these letters and controversy they set off around Gurus death are heartbreaking enough..

The way people speak of Solar being a lil punk i doubt that he has the authority to have that much control over a person like Guru, c'mon he was far from a chump.

Rumors have been speculated by people and fellow artists that maybe Guru and Solar where in some sort of relationship sexually?

It makes sense when you think about it, explains how this kid could have such a hold over a grown a** man.

A hold that maybe Guru had to cir-cum to, to protect his image and status as a Street Hard Poet, for me personally that would be hard to acknowledge without some cold hard fact.

The questions remains though and the fact that Solar is a beneficiary in his estate and royalties (over Guru's blood relations) until his son is old enough to handle it himself... is slightly dodgy, he even has control over the burial and the handling of the body, which he is refusing to allow the family to take hold of. Sick f***ing weirdo!

Its either the sickest attempt to claim fame ever, or something we not seeing that is resulting here. Either way its a terrible end to what Guru along with Gangstarr represented in their 20 years or so musical career.

peep the #f***SOLAR tweets from Bumpy Knuckles and others on twitter, cause he straight on the war path and isn't playing yes man, he's calling homey out.

It's mostly tha voice, that gets you up
It's mostly tha voice, that makes you buck
A lot of rappers got flavor, and some got skills
- He summed his style up the best

You really think a intelligent dude like Guru will make that beef his final statement?
It seems phony to me... Plus name dropping Solar as much as he's mentioned in this
so called final letter seems unlikely.. His fame exceeds the 7 yrs with Solar..

Judging from the people that knew him personally it seems very uncharacteristic  that he would make that his final word..

But either way, Peace Guru, besides the great music and what Gangstarr represented, your voice and phrases are cut by more dj's than any other rapper...
we'll keep you alive....

I think Vast Aire has cannabis psychosis?

They all a bunch of bitches! Vast, Cage, El-P fighting over a dead person's loyalty,
WTF?

the cage response was dope, i didn't think the vast track had enough substance to
cause damage to any of the mentioned disses, he was telling us shit we already know
bout DEF JUX, same references that SOLE and DEMIGODS used back in early 2000's.

Shit is stale!!

Description

ZIMROCKS 2010 will be an International reggae, hip-hop, rock and international music concert to benefit the people of Zimbabwe. The concert is designed to raise money and awareness for those hit by worsening political and economic conditions in the southern African country of Zimbabwe. ZIMROCKS 2010 will be an International music concert to commemorate Bob Marley's 1980 performance at Rufaro stadium in Zimbabwe; its aim is to support community development projects and humanitarian aid for the people of Zimbabwe. The tentative date for the concert is April 19, to commemorate Bob Marley's April 19, performance at the Inauguration of Zimbabwe's independence. The concert, as part of Zimbabwe Independence day festivities, will contribute greatly to the economic benefit of the Zimbabwean economy overall. A percentage of the proceeds will go to benefit local communities and humanitarian aid projects. We educate by organizing and hosting events that focus on raising awareness and finding solutions for the social ills that plague so many of the world's peoples. We entertain by utilizing the same platform of social service to unite artists, audiences and our partners around a worthy cause. We create economic growth by the synthesis of education and entertainment, to create a highly effective platform to bring social responsibility and sound business practices to the people of the developing world.
