well if u count that in record-crates/deejay cases then probaly around 40 crates ....

hahaha .... should call my space here "40 crates and a fish"  :P  ;)

most of it is hiphop! i started buying "the message", "I.O.U." and "buffallo gals" back in the eighties when i was young.
end of the eighties, with 17/18,  i started buying records on a regular basis as i would make some money deejaying .... then i did a logo, advertisement and a website for a record store and i started buying records every tuesday for about 6-7 years in that store, getting real good prices there ...

i used the opportunity to create a pretty complete collection of ninetees cla**ics from 90-97, a lot of good underground stuff from that time and until 2005, a little funk jazz and soul and some reggae/raggamuffin ... one crate of my old skatepunk and other music ...

u'r gonna get a real good treatment if u will have the chance to listen to me while i'm in capetown and around ...   ;)

i'll keep people updated here 'bout where i will be spinning

we are the mods ... we are the mods .... but where are "we" in CT / SA?

;)

the motoring forum here seems more a room for dreams and bragging about big fat cars .... but i usually like to be realistic and after a few nice cars, i switched to the good old vespa end of the ninetees and still stick to it.

so i wonder where my vespa-buddies hang out and how many of u trust the good old steel scooters?

i'll be looking for a vespa 50-125 in CT, so if anyone has one for sale then let me know!!!

Quote from: "TekofTonix"
You just have to love this niggas business minededness, whether you love his music or not, this nigga is moving ahead, i needs to start hanging with this kind of peeps, i'm eyeing a million at 25   , and there years aren't gettin any fewer, damn, i needs to start puttin my business ideas in place. See Jigga, RZA, Puffy or P, whatever, this are black man on a mission to get paid, i'm feeling that!!

same thoughts here .... i used to love his music back in the days of his first album .... now i think he should better be a good black business man and make some power mooves instead of playing the pimp for the music industry  ...

there is a whole bunch of "hiphopstars" that did many good things with the money they made instead of just posing for MTV cribs.
some build up schools, sport centers and various youth programs .... like master P.  don't really like his music, but i really respect him for nut just pimpin' and spending money but doing something usuefull for his community ... and there is more examples ...

i met talib kweli last week, deejayed for him before and after the show and i must say:
not beeing a pimp but a lovely guy talking about love, not having bouncers keepin away people but takin the people on stage to dance, not having 5 cars but a bookstore, and things like these really rock! that 's things people should look up more ...

i wonder if jay-z is the man behind the big business, or his finance/lawyer team he's just paying (like a pimp would usually do)

good question ... right?

General Discussion / what happened to Prophets of da city ?

thanx very much for all the information ....

by the time i met them, it was the first band that really brought "the 4 elements of hiphop" on stage and did more than just a gig ....

the show was amazing, including breakdance-intermezzos, live-t-shirt-graffiti, a little deejay show .... that was real different to most of the live shows i was used to ... it was a time when people like rakim dared to do playback instead of performing live and when most MCs didn't even take a Dj for their gigs ...

also they started their show with a percussion record from SA .... the DJ then mixed in Jeru's "come clean" accapella, perfect pitch, perfectly fitting ....  it kicked my a** so much that i still can't forget. much props for that!

thanx also for the PMs .... seems i'm gonna meet some of them soon  ;)

fatlip is absolutely superdope!!!

i have been deejaying before his gig here in berlin a few weeks ago and made the tour poster. the show was really dope! and i also really really recommend Tre (hardson, aka. slimkid 3).

i also got the album promo here which is sooooooo good!

even the skits rock!

but the whole album seem like a collection of songs .... isn't "what's up fatlip" allready a a year old, or two?

nethertheless, an album u have to get !!!!!!!!!!

(nowadays, there isn't much album fully enjoyable as one coherent piece of art. usually there's only 2-3 good songs and most is crap)
