Mozzy, Sjava and Reason - Seasons

Pity it wasn't the South African Reason but the song is my favourite so far on the album. Sjava did best.

So what's the word? I am really digging this album. The beats are really dope and dude's ability to tell a story is really something. It's like an audio book made up of a banging soundtrack.

And who has never thought of saying "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe"?

Hip Hop Events / Scrambles 4 Money
« on: August 24, 2012, 01:48:44 PM »
Aight so some dudes have launched a national battle circuit and the first event took place last Saturday. Word is the videos of each of the four battles that took place last week will be released on YouTube in a staggered manner - one per week. The Tumi vs One-L battle will be released on Monday (27 August). I'll post the link as soon as I get my hands on it but if I slack Scrambles 4 money on YouTube is all you'll need to search.

Was anybody on here there at the event? Any words before we see the videos?

This one is for my joburg heads. Where do you fancy yourself to be on the 1st September? OT for the Talib show or Old Biscuit Mill for the Little Dragon show? I'm leaning towards Little Dragon.

Movie Talk / Otelo Burning
« on: April 13, 2012, 11:19:54 AM »
"Shot in Durban and directed by Sara Blecher (Surfing Soweto), the film tells the story of a group of township kids who discover the joy of surfing. It's set in 1989, against a backdrop of brewing conflict between two political groups in Lamontville.

When 16-year-old Otelo Buthelezi takes to the water for the first time, it's clear that he was born to surf. But then tragedy strikes. On the day that Nelson Mandela is released from prison, Otelo is forced to choose between surfing success and justice. This is a beautifully made, insightful and entertaining film that captures a turbulent time in the history of South Africa."

This looks cool to watch. In cinemas 11 May 2012.

Hot Traxxx / Wordsworth - No Need To Explain - Produced by Thir[13]teen
« on: October 31, 2011, 09:17:17 AM »
That's right, South Africa's very own Thir[13]teen is the man behind the beat on Wordsworth's latest single. This is big for the CapCity emcee/ producer, I'm hoping that it allows him the opportunity to produce for a lot more international acts.

Clap for'em

General Discussion / Troy Davis
« on: September 21, 2011, 03:30:03 PM »
What do you guys know/ think about this situation? I started seeing tweets about it a few days ago. Then last night / this morning American twitter started going bezerk and that's when I finally read up on the dude.

As far as I know he's sentenced to an execution that will be happening tonight (19:30 in one of the American timezones) for a crime (shooting a police officer in 1989) where there isn't conclusive evidence to support his conviction. Only eyewitness testimonies, some of which have since been recanted or changed. Smells like a bullshit situation but I'm only working with a few reports I read during the course of the day.

Anybody know anything more?

« on: June 20, 2011, 03:55:13 PM »
So Reason just released a new single called 15 Grand. Playing it as I type. Sounding nice so far.

What's interesting is it was released through Motif Records. Tumi's stable. Yup - it seems Tumi has signed Reason.

Here's a link to the joint: http://mp3twit.com/cGu

Hot Traxxx / Power, P#ssy & Pistols - Paragon
« on: June 15, 2011, 04:34:39 PM »
Here is the actual CD. The cover is probly covered in dust somewhere in the garage. Sorry about the image - it is what it is.

This was released circa 2004 on the streets of Tembisa. Will have to get a track list and production credits. I'll up links of the album in the next few days.

Dude raps in isiXhosa, isiZulu, isiEnglish and kasi lingo and is dope at it.
