"Rise and Grind" :D

Wusup world. Been a minute since I laid foot onto AG - miss it. School has the better of me. Anyways, I recently recorded a track over the "Forever" instrumental - originally done by Drake, Kanye West, Lil' Wayne & Eminem. This one was recorded by my man Lex and engineered by myself. We both fresh out of highschool and still doing bedroom recording so please don't mind the quality. Enjoy:

Producers - Discussion / First BIG Mix & Production
« on: November 25, 2009, 09:04:42 AM »
Morning...

Just spent 14 hours on a song. 5 on Friday and 9 on Monday. Personally this is way more time than I normally spend on a track, reason being that I was recording a whole band this time. With the help of Alec Brits, a friend, band mate and fellow producer, we tidied up pretty nicely.

The song is a tribute song we wrote for the St Alban's College matric group this year, our matric group. It is a huge song though so, unless I convert it, I won't be able to gooi in an AG download but you can get here:

Feel free distribute and, give feedback on the song, the mixing on it, and all that. With that said, we won't change anything on it, but I will use it for future reference.

If you're interested, you can also read up on a very short article (about my school) that I posted on my blog:

Producers - Discussion / Best Beat Selecta
« on: November 17, 2009, 11:35:54 AM »
Good morrow my fellow producers... I don't know if this topic has been posted before but, as a beatmaker and/or producer who do you think is the best beat selector (in terms of emcees)..? Who can pick beatz that all complement one another to create a fulfilling album or mixtape..?

Personally, I think it's Mos Def currently - judging by his latest offering. And maybe Rakim.

Producers - Discussion / B.e.et By Prof. X
« on: April 04, 2009, 10:01:11 AM »
Something I formulated yesterday. It took me about 20 minutes and was in turn a rushed job as I had to hit the lab. Anyways though...

First b.e.et I'm uploading. Oh! And B.e.etz (Pronounced B-e-eats) is the name of the beatmakers team I'm in...
Feedback please...

Wusup... Got joints to post. The name's P-X (Poet-X/Prof. X). I'm part of a label called Pirate-d Wreck-Chordz and one of the founders too.

Just too be brief about ish, we're based in Pretoria for the most part but some of our katz reside from Gab City in Bots and Johannesburg too. We started of 'commercially' in July 2007, about the 17th. We pressed a track titled The Idea and later on, 11th April 2008, we dropped a mixtape which was titled The RuFf sK3tcH Mixtape and was up downloads here, as well, but didn't get much response.

Our 'crew' consists of myself, Atmos', Lex, Ob1one, Con's-piracy and Trix.

I will upload tracks on a regular.

Enjoy the music... and don't be shy, giving feedback doesn't hurt.

Producers - Discussion / I WANT SAMPLES!!! SOUNDS!!!
« on: November 24, 2008, 04:19:04 PM »
Okay, firstly, when I say samples, I mean sounds... Like a single piano key or kick or a snare, maybe a guitar riff, whatever... Gimme sights.

DO NOT Give me hiphopstreet.blogspot.com or anything I have to sign up for, please.

This would be of help to anyone else who wants to compose from scratch. Don't get me wrong, sampling is tha s*** but I need beats I can call my own, entirely. Even if it's one or two.

Post packs, mp3s or links, please. If you have any acapellas that can be sampled as well, hand 'em over, lol.  ;).

Get at me... Spread the knowledge.

Producers - Discussion / Industry Standards...
« on: November 14, 2008, 11:30:07 AM »
After reading the two recent Hype magazines, I figured as producers we need to set a standard amongst ourselves by comparing prices... and whatever prices you decide on, will it be suitable for everyone?

Hype say we should start at around R1000 but for upcoming artists that's a bit much I think. So what's the deal producers, what are you guys charging? Should it be based on the who the buyer is or should it be based on your standards?

Let's create and spread the knowledge people.
