General Discussion / Re: Burqa
« on: July 15, 2009, 01:19:21 PM »my perception of fact and science go more towards Michel Foucalt's understanding of them. the mechanics of knowledge accumulation are not infallible. science can easily be seen - just like religion - as a projection of reality instead of it's reflection. a lot of what science is based on is abstract and intangible. i'm not saying it doesn't work, but how it's thought about and what it means can always be called into question. but this is not the thread for that.
Let's do this, climb on top of whatever building you are inside now, get to the edge of the roof and simply walk off and let's see just how science is a projection of reality instead of it's reflection and a lot of science is based on is abstract and intangible.
How about that.
that was juvenile. you got none of what i said. do you understand the concept of ontological knowledge versus teleological knowledge and each one's relationship to the "perception" of reality? just say so if you don't, because we're arguing on very different levels, right now. i won't die because of science. science will have a way of putting my death in it's terms and explaining it according to it's own laws which, when drawn out, become intangible conjecture like every other belief system.
anyway as i said, this is not the place.
the thing with the Muslim women is petty. it seems like Sarkozy is showing off. why not let the women wear whatever they want. one MAN tells them to wear the suits, another MAN tells them to take them off. listen to what THEY want, that's the only thing worth discussing here.
This is very simple, it could be called "science" or "shit happens". The fact is there is law. You jump up gravity, or to indulge will call it groundmagnet will pull you down.
You split an atom you get a bomb.
Oil will float to the top mixed with water.
These are things that will always...always happen.
There are not perceptions.
You want do equate them with religion?
Has your prayer to win the Lotto been answered yet?
This Michael you speak of can try to obscure things by using lexicon and you believe him it's fine.
But I hope one day you realise how silly this, "Science will have a way of putting my death in it's terms and explaining it according to it's own laws" is.
You sound like a Black American talking about the MAN.
