Top model Joelle Kayembe is trying to financially strangle her former businessman fiancé with her latest exorbitant and sensational divorce settlement demands.
The Congolese-born beauty this week launched another High Court application in her bid to get more moolah from her fiancé, Bongani “Bo” Mbindwane, a well-known tycoon.
This after the Bramley police confirmed that Kayembe was arrested and charged for malicious damage to property after she allegedly vented her anger on Mbindwane’s Audi sports car, inflicting damages estimated at more than R180,000.
She says that her former fiancé refused to let her buy food from Pick n Pay; she had to shop only at Woolworths.
Police spokesman inspector Moses Maphakela says Kayembe was arrested and released after her lawyer came to the police station.
Maphakela says the docket was sent to the director of public prosecutions to decide whether to prosecute or not.
The split comes after Kayembe accused Mbindwane of moering her after he discovered that she’d aborted their 17-week-old foetus behind his back.
She further claimed he called her a “murderer” in front of her mother Nadine Kayembe.
Sources close to the couple confirm that Mbindwane is devastated and is a changed person after the ordeal and public release of his private affairs.
It is still unclear how Kayembe managed to get an abortion at such a late stage of her pregnancy as this is against the Termination of Pregnancy Act.
Kayembe, who initially told her parents she’d had a miscarriage, confessed in her affidavit that she actually aborted the baby after she realised Mbindwane was no longer interested in her and was about to dump her.
In her attempt to squeeze Mbindwane’s pocket, Kayembe – who told a Sunday paper that her nightclub mogul dad was rich and could afford her lavish lifestyle – is demanding R65,000 a month – just for a housing allowance.
Altogether, she is petitioning for a total monthly maintenance of R131,707.
She also wants an international forensic audit of Mbindwane’s a**ets, as she claims she is entitled to half his estate because he paid ilobolo.
The couple was due to marry on September 30 this year but the wedding was called off.
In new court papers submitted by Kayembe before jetting off to the UK, she says: “I was willing to provide Mbindwane with a family.
“However, I preferred to wait a while while Mbindwane wanted to start immediately.”
She says that she lost out on replacing Ashley Simpson and Britney Spears as face of Sketchers in South Africa.
Ironically, her image is on billboards and store materials for the same brand.
To support her R10,000 a month clothing maintenance claim from Mbindwane, Kayembe tells the court she got used to living the high life in her five months of staying with Mbindwane.
She says before becoming involved with him she wore a normal sewing stitch weave but Mbindwane insisted that she wear high-maintenance lace front hair extensions.
The FHM model, who also appears in the Sprite Zero advert, says she is a down-to-earth-girl but Mbindwane made her wear Gucci, Jimmy Choo and Levi’s, and got rid of her vanity bag from Clicks to carry a Gucci one.
