General Discussion / Hip-Hop on SAFM - check this out
« on: November 01, 2006, 11:14:54 AM »
SAFM finally grows some balls :D

A while ago, we wrote/directed/produced a hip-hop radio play that aired on RMR 89.7FM in Grahamstown. It's been picked up by SAFM and is being broadcast as part of a double feature at 19h00 this Saturday night (04/11)

Here's the original description of the play:

"BEAUTY AND THE BEAT"
A hip-hop radio play in celebration of women's month

Ever felt like you're the only person who understands something? Melissa feels that way. An aspiring hip-hop producer, she struggles to make her mark in an industry dominated by males and fed by stereotypes and preconceptions. "Beauty and the Beat" is a celebration of women in hip-hop culture.

Starring Katie Pearson, Xoli Matomela, Cliff Hlungwane, Dylan Van De Merwe and Jacqueline Nurse.

Written and directed by Rob Boffard.

With music from Lupe Fiasco, Jean Grae, Canibus, Swollen Members, Nthabi and Fabolous and with original production by Alias.

Produced by the HIPHOCALYPSE in a**ocation with RMR 89.7FM and RADIO SHACK PRODUCTIONS.

PLEASE, PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS! It's a major big up for everybody involved in the production getting this thing onto national radio plus, as far as I'm concerned, the majority of the SAFM listenership doesn't know/care about hip-hop, so the more heads we have listening to this the better.

And on a side note, I'd just like to thank Blakhroze, Nthabi and Nuwepussy for helping me out with researching the piece, and Nthabi for being cool with me using her music.

I remember you posting a while ago about Jean Grae coming to SA in August. Is that actually happening or was that just a dumb rumour?

General Discussion / Contact Numbers
« on: June 17, 2006, 09:49:57 AM »
Some help please? I'm desperately trying to get hold of HHP and despite trying several numbers have come up blank. Does someone have a contact number for him?

You don't have to post it here, just PM me. Thanks.

Hey man. Apologies if you think I've been lazy, my PMs have not been working properly. I mailed my response to the addy on your website.

In the meantime, if that doesn't work, I'm up to call you - when is a good time (UK Time)?

Peace

The Office / Issues with PMs
« on: April 13, 2006, 06:39:58 PM »
Hey Milk

There is a problem with the PMs on AG. Whenever I try
to send one (despite telling me it has been sent) it
goes straight into my outbox and does not appear in my
Sentbox. It also does not give me the option to send
directly from my outbox.

Thanks man.

General Discussion / Can someone help me out?

I'm trying to find the following tracks. I've searched high and low for a way to get hold of them to no avail:

K'Naan - Soobax (Impossible to get his album; does anyone have a copy of this awesome song they could upload?)

Also from the Need for Speed Underground 2 Soundtrack (not commercially available)
Nate Dogg - Keep It Coming
Petey Pablo -Need for Speed

I've got a Mac so the right-click-save-target-as approach doesn't work. Does anyone have the files to upload?

Movie Talk / MTV Movie Awards
« on: December 23, 2005, 03:56:22 PM »
What a crock of shit.

Just came across it now - they gave Napoleon Dynamite the Best Movie Award ahead of Spiderman 2, The Incredibles and Kill Bill. I wanted to vomit. They also gave Lindsay Lohan Best Female ahead of Scarlett Johannsen. I did vomit.

Since  it's the MTV viewers who pick them, one can only imagine the mental acuity of the average American MTV watcher. Really, this just boggles my mind. Picking an inbred imbecile from Idaho over, for example, one of the greatest animation achievements in the past ten years is just lunatic.

I'm going to go shoot someone now. preferably Lindsay Lohan.

Ah well, at least anyone with half a brain doesn't take the MTV awards seriously. Tarantino probably switched on at home and is pissing himself laughing. Then he'll send Lindsay Lohan the severed head gasket of Herbie as a congratulations gift.

Rrrrrrr.

Call this a little market research...

Has anyone listened to the Hiphocalypse Shortcuts or Fortknights downloadable radio segments?

If you haven't, they're on the bottom of the navbar on the left under Hiphocalypse Radio. Any thoughts?

5th album - The Craft - due September 2005

CAN'T WAIT! Already heard "Your Move" and it is DOPE. This is looking to be one of the year's top albums, even though Blazing Arrow was one hell of a hard act to follow. Who's with me?

General Discussion / HYPE diss song
« on: June 26, 2005, 12:12:56 AM »
Tuned into Metro last night and heard Syd Money's song attempting to rip the shit out of HYPE cos they allegedly "changed" an article and forgot to mention him.

What a load of BOLLOCKS. Especially the phone interview afterwards.

What exactly is the full story?
