Hot Traxxx / Core Wreckah x Isosceles (Trompie remix)
« on: May 20, 2011, 02:07:30 PM »
A while back, I recorded and mixed a five-track EP with a fellow Lesotho-based emcee called Isosceles. He let me jump on one song, and this is what came out:

Isosceles (w/ Core Wreckah) - Never Underestimate (prod. by Cymptom)

Trompie was gracious enough to respond to my request that he remix the song, and the result is a really brilliant, laid-back version of the original. Please click on the link below to hear it:

Peace!

Hot Traxxx / Core Wreckah x BecomingPhill
« on: May 02, 2011, 04:22:56 AM »
Peace!

I just thought to share this song I did over a beat by BecomingPhill (Namibian producer) for his Phill-Anthropy series, which is a concept somewhat akin to Kanye's 'Good fridays'.

I'm the first dude he chose, and being a big fan of his work from way back (he used to be a regular on AG), it was quite the f***in' honour  8)

Please do check out for it here: Core Wreckah (w/ Babz) - Buzzin' (prod. by BecomingPhill)

While you're there, don't forget to check out his other work, dude is insane with it!

You can also follow him on twitter: @BecomingPhill

Hot Traxxx / Core Wreckah - Ngoan'a Nts'oana
« on: September 28, 2010, 03:41:21 AM »
Peace to all!

I've been working on some tunes lately, and would like to share this one entitled 'Ngoan'a Nts'oana', produced by Dim Light.

This is not Sesotho funk. This is not mountain pop. This is hardcore hip-hop delivered with a gutteral growl  akin to the style which has been perfected by the long-standing tradition of Basotho freestyle rappers (liroki), and replete with call-and-response chants which have become a staple of Basotho music.

Hot Traxxx / Isosceles - The Untiled EP
« on: September 15, 2010, 01:41:03 AM »
"Isosceles is part of the new breed of Lesotho-based emcees who are driven by a desire to break the stereotype of their country always being over-looked in social and cultural circles on the global stage. Seeing themselves as equal to anyone else in the world, this breed is intent on making a mark that shall be felt way beyond the confines of their immediate environment. "

I got the opportunity of working with this dude, and thought I should perhaps share the results with the people on this here platform. The work has been uploaded on bandcamp; kindly check it out, download if you like, and leave a comment on this thread.

It would be greatly appreciated!

Media / Dunamis on SABC1's live this Friday
« on: February 03, 2009, 12:36:11 PM »
Yo! Dunamis is a Lesotho-based hip-hop artist doing big things out in South Africa. He released his debut album "Mastered seed" in 2007, and has been on the grind eversince. Two of the videos from the album ('Mastered seed' and 'Time has come [with Glory]), have received ma**ive rotation on Channel O, MTV Base, SABC1, and ETv. He's currently working on a follow-up, which promises to be better.

He'll be on SABC1's "Live" this Friday, as part of the 'Up-and-coming' acts that they've got. If you feel his music, please tune in and sms "Dunamis" to the number that shall be appearing on the screen.

You can download the 'Mastered seed' track here: mastered.mp3 - 4.46MB

And check out the video while you're at it. Peace!! ;)

Hot Traxxx / Malik (from Ba4za)
« on: November 07, 2008, 11:11:16 AM »
Yo, this cat right here is my favourite out of the whole clique, style's too sick. Been looking out for his stuff since Nyambo posted his "Afrikan Express" joint a while back. I've stumbled across a copy of his "Official Bootlegs Vol. I", and it's pretty sick. I think it was released two years ago or something.

Does anyone here have info concerning his whereabouts, and where I can buy a copy of the album??? I'd appreciate it :)

Hot Traxxx / Album of the year: 2008
« on: November 06, 2008, 12:04:10 PM »
Ait, so, for 2008, what have you favourite albums been? Personally, it started off quite slow for me. The Roots' album was quite a disappointment for me, as was Loop Troop and Black Milk...but it's all starting to look up now. Here are my favourites thus far:

EMC - The Show
Heltah Skeltah - D.I.R.T
Q-Tip - Renaissance
Illa J - Yancey Boys :o :o :o
Madlib - Beat Konducta Vol. 5 [Dil Cosby Suite]

That's all for now...

Media / Hip hop in Lesotho: A cipha perspective
« on: October 19, 2008, 01:41:18 PM »
About a year ago, I went through all the video clips on my hard drive, trying to find a way in which I could combine them and tell a story related to Lesotho hip-hop. I discovered a lot of clips related to ciphas that I'd captured, and that's when my vision to do a documentary on the Lesotho cipha scene begun.

Over the next three months (i.e. from October through to December), Corporate Nemesis (me and Fairo) were compiling, interviewing, reviewing, and putting together elements to what became known as "The Cipha", a twenty-two minute documentary which gives a view on that [Lesotho cipha] scene.

I've uploaded a good number of clips on Youtube, and would like to share with anyone here who is interested, and who would maybe like to collaborate on similar projects. Depending on the level of response, I shall share some more. Check this first clip out:

And please visit the blog: nemesisinc.blogspot.com if you are interested in discovering more stuff related to the hip-hop happenings in Lesotho.

Peace!

General Discussion / Standard contracts
« on: August 08, 2008, 01:45:44 AM »
I remember there was a thread from way back which gave some standard artist's contracts, but I sadly can't find it. If possible, could anyone in the loop post up standard contracts for any one of these situations:

-Designing logos for people
-Working on video production for an artist
-Recording (i.e. helping someone out with studio time)

Also, I took this clause from a contract:

7)   That publishing costs not covered by SARREL, NORM and SAMRO that may arise from distribution through the ...online store will be paid from the Artist/Record Label share of the revenue of the sale. The Artist/Record Label also agrees that all royalties that may result from the free distribution of 30sec music samples on the website will be waived by the proprietor.

Does anyone care to explain what it means???

General Discussion / To Nyambz, from a concerned individual
« on: July 21, 2008, 08:04:13 PM »
This is an open letter to Nyambino, from a concerned fan:

Dear Inyambo "Nyambz" Imenda,

I have been following your music production from early on during the days of Fro-Pick, maybe even a little while before that when you were still making beats for Sceptre. It was always a joy for me to get a release and see one of your beats on it. Being the 'hard-drive wrecker' that I am, I have consistently perused through a lot of beings' machines, searching for that elusive beat-tape you made, that one jam that might have slipped through my fingers in my constant persuit to add to my collection of your beautiful music. Needless to say, some weren't impressive, but that was just a sand particle in the sea of the music you've crafted.

Time went on, and so did the growth of your work's catalogue. While I did appreciate that you were putting out stuff, I was not satisfied with the constant unfulfilled promises. For instance, the project with BecomingPhil (but this I shall skip since an official explanation has been provided), the LeftField project with Mizi (last I heard, y'all were still in negotiations, planning to distribute it as far afield as Germany), the Blak Lez and Damolaa projects (note that just 'saying' they'll be out this year is not enough)...and the list goes on.

What I am saying, Mr. Imenda, is that there is a universe of souls right here on earth - mine included - who would very much appreciate (and actually buy) your projects. Keep putting stuff out, see your projects through to completion, keep it moving. In the now-immortal words of Guru, 'Your potential is infinite'.

Please do not see this as an attack on your person, but rather a heartfelt attempt to get you to release something, anything!!! The Winter Beat tapes, the mixtapes, the 'This is a tape just for the sake of it' tape...whatever.

Thank you in advance,

Biz-ark-human.

PS. I am still holding you onto that Xenophobia project.
