I respect the nguni initiation tradition but with all the unproffesional people running the schools and the amounts of juvinile deaths, I can say that I am happy that Inkosi uShaka abolished this practise in my Zulu culture.

no, forgive me
I thought that those cats were nationwide. MSE is a graf crew based in Jhb somewhere. Atom75 is on that ish. The whole Braamfie was full of they tags when I was up in there. The also did some pieces on empire road. I know Jhb is full of graf heads but to my knowlegde MSE are the most organised. Anyone disagree with that? Maybe MSE should hook the site up with some bombs they dropped for other peeps to check.

I aint graf head myself but I appreaciate the art.

ahh rippingtons, le club, etc whatever you call it, those were the days!

Homebrew is Soweto´s own Selvyn and Shemane right? Yeah they still around? Before I left South Africa I heard a track Shemane did with some other cats, they used a Stimela sample on that ish. It was supposed to be realised on some compilation. I don´t know more. I also heard Shemane early 2002 on Y-fm (before rapactivity was shut down!) on a battle. It was him and Amu versus some cats from Berea. Anyone got that battle on tape? Stream that ish, I´d like to hear it again?

Metamoforces I think had Spex on that ish. Spex is on the solo as you´ll know.

I am not familiar or can´t remember the other groups you mentioned. Anyone  out there know?

What happened to Ba**MentalPlatform they was a super crew aiight? And everyone was feeling Mischief when they was still Soul Material. Does anyone out know that kid MARADONA from Sotho Tribe?

do you´ll remember this track from the ba** mental tape:">ba** mental

I see all my demands have been carried out. BIG UP!
Do other members dig it like that?

A lot of old rappers tell me that the first person they saw spitting was Senyaka. Senyaka as you may or may not know is on some Kwaito tip now. Can anybody who knows about the oldskool scene confirm this?

the first time I saw that Senyaka video with the gold chains, you know on that Queens,NY pimping tip, was on BOPtv but that was in the early ninetys. It was before Arthur came with that kwaito ish. I also saw POC for the first time on BOP.

Intrestingly, a lot of people who were pioneers of the hiphop movement ended up doing Kwaito. Think:
Ismael from POC - now RnB kwaito,
Junior then POC- now ragga kwaito,
Mandoza & General former B-Boys now roc&roll flavoured kwaito,
BaPhixile tswana rap/kwaito (mad tight back then),
Shemane ?, etc.

Oscar from Kalawa-Jazzme Record once told me he used to beatbox back in the day for some emcees but I do not know how true this is?
Even Arthur´s "Amagents" has a verse where he´s rapping and not the oneliners he does these days. I heard that MacAlex did their hit "Boyz-B-Boyz in New York and its not Caroline doing the verse there. I cant remeber if was a good song or not.

I cant´ think back to ´88 (damn how old are you MD?) but I remember on Inside Info (on CCV)or was it Grab they used to have inserts on hiphop. They also used to have some inserts on cats in cyphers, imagine if we can get hold of the "raw unedited material".I think that´s where I found out I could listen to VOS on saturdays and hear some real Jhb underground. Zakes was the presenter and used to host cats like  baPhixile around. Zakes works for e-tv now, i think.

And what about getting in touch with Tim, the white rasta? He is on castle loud right or Channel O. He has been on the telly with Issac mad long. He would be the perfect peson to dig up those SAUK/SABC vaults.

I think that another reason the older dudes will not allow us to to have a look at their private collections is because they fear being embarrased. With the level the game is now, a lot of things have changed and kids will tell you straight when they hear a Dougie Fresh jam for the first time that it´s wack, weak lyrics, too much party rhymes, not gangsta, sounds a like kwaito rhyme etc. Why this is so, I do not know exactly. It could be because of the "lame" production back then or because of the state hiphop was in before the Big Daddy Kanes and Marly Marls stepped into the game.

In my culture, I do not have to go for that once-in-an-bantu-boys´-lifetime trip up the mountain, but I was once told by a Xhosa friend that there´s a section where they have to recite inkondlo (or poem). When he dermonstrated this "recitation" for me it was like some emcee rocking a Mic on some deep topic. Plus the off-the-head lines that an initiate must conjure seem not to be too different from what we now call freestyling. It must also be noted that there are serious consequences for doing this part of the initiation wrong. And we all know about how african knowledge was pa**ed from generation to generation by oral history, so hiphop might have been with us longer than we think.

There´s a lot of missing pieces but there´s no need to be puzzled. We got this hiphop ish with us, now, in this form, lets savour the moment

Nah, I do not like this at all. If it aint broke don´t fix it.
Also, why don´t we have the memberlogin form on the homepage? It is better than having to go to another page to log in.
just my view

Some Real ish.
Supreme´s flow is ill. I admit Jhb cats are getting some heavy competition.

"andina mali" damn! I hope that the higher powers are listening.

What does it take to get this track playlisted on Yfm, Metro, etc. Heads, lets get together and push this to the next stage.
And, what does it take to press  ish onto vinyl, are there dj´s interested. I propose that that through the OG´s of this site we set up a section dedicated to industry schooling , relevant to SA of course. Like Thabiso and Bradley had on VOS but on some next ish. You´ll Dig?

Q. Are those cats in PE down with Bantu Nation, I mean "comrade" Sincere and the likes?
