The beats are ill...Damn JR's Dope....

Weird to think that he never was this tight when first coming onto the scene.Due to his background in cla**ical jazz, he came with elaborate and heavy musical beats. It was too much for ppl to really understand and get with. Also, his drums were weak. His manager played a ma**ive role in him getting to his prestine level of production that he's at now. Also, his manager said that JR's drive was so heavy that he wanted to be the best at what he's doing. He still regards Dr Dre 2001 as the template for sound quality and best produced hip hop album. One month, not too long back he actually had the most placements out of any producer in the game with 50 plus.Imagine that, 50plus placements on big albums in 1 month. That's cheddar for sure. His manager is the real deal.

U never know.......they may drop, in their spare time, a duet compilation called "Thanks Giving".Of course, these are just my views.U'd have to wait for them to confirm anything. Those are 2 busy guys. :)

Yeah, he was part of ATOJ (A Touch of Jazz), doing production duty on Jazzy Jeff's The Magnificent album.A hot album, still, to this day.His crew's Low Budget.......and I think, as I'm sure many will agree, he's a very very underrated producer........think more artists need to get with Kev Brown beats. The man known for his ba**lines.........and it is that good.

Media / JR Rotem is South African?
« on: November 22, 2006, 08:45:48 AM »
Yeah, one of his parents is Israeli. He's not really South African in a growin up sense......he was just born here.Basically, almost immediately after his birth, his parents then relocated to the Bay Area.He actually wanted to study film scoring, if I'm not mistaken, and then got into cla**ical jazz music and composition.

I heard from his manager that yes he was born in SA, but they almost immediately had to relocated to the US.Some of his first work was on a Destiny's child album, if I'm not mistaken, of which he wasnt credited. The last time he was still using Reason 3.0, but also couple with an MPC when he's forced to make stuff in studios.......as that's usually available.

Media / Timbaland diss Scott Storch
« on: November 22, 2006, 08:38:35 AM »
Checked this track over the weekend.Luv the beat. Its pretty darn tight.I also noted that part where Timbo goes off on something like he gets half a Mill for a track, other producer or producers get a couple grand. Also something bout him being a real producer and the other producer is just a piano or keyboard player.Storch did come to mind, though, when I heard this I must admit.........but not sure if its a direct diss to him.If there's confirmation from Timbo in that regard, then I guess its str8 up.But hey, sick of this speculation nonsense.I dont pay the lyrics much mind with these type of songs.........just enjoying the beat.

I've gotten to the point where I am pretty much game to pay for digital music. If the price is right and R5 is a nice one, I'll be down.We gotta get that culture going of forking out to get quality product. Its a learning curve.

Howcome Semitone didnt contribute to this project. That's an interesting one.

Anyways, I agree........they'd sound good over a Dplanet beat or beats.Think they could do with an Ameen banger too.Their style is well suited to his vibe.

this puffy track has the same sample as Jay-Z's "Show me What you got". :?

Yeah, not abad track.Jigga one is hotter. But dont forget, this track originally sampled on Ras ka**'s Rasa**ination track.Pitched down to give it a slower feel. That track, lyrically beats any of these 2.Its a hot diss track. One of the best. One of the best opening lines in a song too.Check it.
