Watz ya guyz think of this 1..??

http://www.bothner.co.za/products/mixers/multimix12fw.shtml

Its a multimix mixer12...you don't need a sound card with this one..its a mixer sound card...you only need the FireWire PCI Card only to connect it with ya workstation...and FireWire PCI card is about R140... has it own effect that you may need..reverbs, delays, chorus, flanging, pitch, and multieffects...remember this is a new product...it realy cool..
And the sound quality is way better than a normal sound card 24-bit, 44.1/48 kHz operation with high-end A/D and D/A conversion through integrated FireWire audio interface using next-generation Dice II FireWire chip...

DPlanet whatcha think of this one...???

I haven't been able to find a review, but it looks great. Analogue mixers are cool,,, and hardware efffects can be really nice. I might have to put that on my wishlist!!

Anyone else know anything about this?

Should be about R3,500,,, anyone know how much it actually costs here in SA?

I was at Paul Bothner yesterday its about R3300....8-channel and I've ordered 1one for me and 12-channel..is about R4500......I also prefer the hardware effects..most cats are taking the software routes....While I'm on the hardware path

there isn't any such thing as reasonable prices in SA,,, we get f***ed up by import duties or whatever. I try to get everything from overseas where possible.

No doubt, its high. But the duty thing has fallen considerably and that shouldnt really be a valid arguement, as I've last checked. It may be that there is still a monopoly and thats whats being taken advantage of.Its sick, but such is how things work.So the overseas route, unfortunately appears to be the better bet, for up & coming producers.

Btw Dp, u import from UK or US?Its not that easy from US as they pretty much a closed-shop, unless u have contacts in US that can then order and send it ur way.Though, the US has many equipment warehouse stores that discount pretty nicely, which is something we dont really have around these parts. Also, their thriftshops are pretty nicely stocked sometimes, depending on the region/state u might find urself in and more specifically the city/town therein.Wish I coulda perused the thriftshops in Detroit.Imagine, picking up Dilla's old drum machine or keyboard.U never know.Or anyone else for that matter.

yeah,,, mac is the only way. you never hear a mac person complaing they lost all their work ;)

logic has a fairly steep learning curve (and the instruction manual is thicker than an encyclopedia) but once you have the basics, it's very nice.
