help with reason

i just got a bootleg copy of reason3. installed the shit. now i don't hear anything, not even when i play the included tutorial track. but when i export the track as an audio file i can hear the sound. what the f***? i've never used reason before. :arrow:

you didnt set up for audio devices properly, and if you dont have a midi keyboard then you wasting your time

u go 2 edit, preferemces, & click on the tab drop down thing, & then go to audio
then u gotta select ya device 4 yo sound card. u'll get sound

good luck, & just so by the way... I make MUCH better beats that cat I know who have midi keyB's. & I was using reason 1. so dont let these guys get u down, u develope ya art & mayb 1 day u can get sum better equip. I dont like relying on equipment. I'll post sum shit soon to prove it. & look out 4 Apostle's [I'm doin his beats] album in PTA & JHB next year... & then Dycritix in the future when we;re ready. Yo'll needa get ya facts str8 b4 crushin ppl!!! :evil:

cats ..u dont need a midi keyboard tomake beats in reason, having one is a plus but u can make bangers without one,,, i know wenuff cats that dont have midi keytboards and churn out that good shit...

Ay yo this may sound off topic but i have had fruity loops studio 4.5 now for quite some time now and i cant reallyu find or make proper kicks snares and stuff to make beats and i still dont know how to use those hip hop sounds... can you hlp me out...

We didn't say that If u don't own a Keyboard Midi Controller...u can't make a beat...we were In facts..I was trying to tell the Brother that Its realy hard to get through Reason without a Midi Controller....

If u have a Midi Controller u can do wateva u want...with a sound...u create your own chords...and stuff...u get into nuts and bolts of Reason.
Its doesn't limit u interms of sounds productions and stuff.....

I still say get one...if u can...u won't believe...what capabilities its has...

actually without a midi keyboard you are limiting yourself and you cant express yourself, a midi device is a must have if you making beats with a pc period.

OK....OK.... I did Bhedah or whatever. but understand... I make beats...No Keyboard... I'd love 1... I make sum ill riff when in fronta a piano... I wish I could have the liberty of just makin a beat & havin a keyboard to inspire me, & not hav to wait till I make a lucky riff of find a tyt sound 1st. But I do, so wen sum ppl say... oh u need a midi KB... I get hacked off.

But u do not NEED a Kb. I've made sum piano riffs using delays & whats not to give the desired effect plenty, but thats just me...

yes you don't need it, but you'll be limiting your potential and you can be more creative and work faster when you have one, I don't know any professional producer that just uses a mouse
