best mixtape - perigo minas. while drudge dialect is tight, the manner it was released killed a lot of its stema. it's got so many tight joints, but we knew it was coming for ages & got some joints, in fact almost the entire thing bit by bit. When perigos dropped, it made that impact. i dont know how to put it but it was like whoa! Everyone for instance was talking about 21 Rhyme salute. they probable knew early on that they were going to distribute it freely + the idea of getting it if u buy a locl cd is brilliant. Perigos had a few average joints, but tracks like 21 rhyme salute and that Konfab track (track 3) made you feel like "this is the real hip hop".
Therefore my runner up is Drudge dialect. imbizo was wack (the artists are not). only felt 2 tracks. Still havent copped battle of gugulethu (WHERE IS IT AVAILABLE ? 4 the upteempth time)
VENTILATION - Did not drop last year. A very tight mixtape. IZINJA is one of those tracks u cant ignore. think of these other tracks - still in love with u, when i shine u shine with Kruna, & the track with RJ benjamin, the infa track Schabzin van klapzin, BEE. This dude surprised me. I respect his hustle too. he is probable the main force behind Buttabing. He would be Jigga if our scene was big. good artist (not the illest emcee though). his business acumen should be an inspiration to many. + Ventialtion had a DVD. Ithink it was laso released without any major label. If u consider the impact it made, that's good.

hip hop royalty - one of the greatest displays of emceeing in SA. Too ill. i dont know what those guys were smoking when they wrote those verses.
If I had to choose from your list - 21 rhyme salute. althjough the choice is limited.
I would also nominate What by konfab and phuncuka bendibamba by middle finga.

middle held it down this year - so many good tracks. but knofab remains one of the best in SA. I have not heard as much stuiff from him this year as Middle finga. I heard a lot of his & writers block stuff last year.
