i use software only (fruityloops and audition). i play drums and learning how to play the ba** guitar. i can't really say i have a background in music though. all i need is fuityloops, audition and a good ear for music.

no midi keyboard ? but you use vst's right ? cause standard fruity sounds don't sound too good
