Seems like the more i understand, the more confusing it gets. my opinion.
since Hiphop is a culture, a global culture at that, i think its then safe to call it Hiphop in South africa than South African Hiphop. Coz i believe that wen we call it SA HIPHOP thats when we open room for shit like Kwai-Hip or Kwai-Hop whatevr its called...
With reference to people relating, Cats should be real to themselves first for streets to respect them. For example, Tumi (T2V), Been criticised of his accent but as South Africans we relate to his tracks hence 1976. Secondly, Proverb has also been critised of trying to be American but also has mad love from the streets. then there is cat like Pro-kid, Zuluboy they are also doing hiphop differently from the cats mention (Zuluboy- zulupoetmc, Pro-kasi slang) they are all getting love from the streets. So is it then safe to close off by quoting Proverb "Focus on what im saying, not how im saying it".
