what Rob is trying to say is that if it weren't for ACE and others like him, who you consider to be mediocre artists, you wouldn't even know about hip hop. Ace is one of the people that spread hip hop to the ma**es. Along with Tragedy, Kid Capri and other people who may not be as rich as you lie about being, they were the pioneers of this artform and culture.
If it were'nt for Kool Herc, there would be no hip hop as we know it. Kool herc isn't rich, yet he has that "swagger" f***, he invented that "swagger". Same can be said for Afrika Bambaata. Do you even knwo who these people are?
They are the ones Pac and jigga and Fiddy and all you other heroes look up to.
Also, counting album sales as a measure of how much money you make is simply retarded. El-p, Eyedea and others like them make more from selling 200 000 copies independently than Fiddy makes from selling 2 000 000 copies through his lable. Why?
Because the lable takes costs for marketing, packaging, studio time, pressing up the album, investing in his bling, his cars and everything else that makes you dream of living their lifestyle.
Most artists on major lables make 90% of their income from concerts and tours. they earn approximately 20 cents from every 12 dollar album sold.
I've been watching you guys' threads and posts and some of your igorance is simply astounding. I think you have some potential, but you need to change your attitiudes and be more open to criticism. stop acting like you're living in a music video or gangster movie, cos where I'm from, I've seen lots of guys get the shit kicked out of them for that kind of behaviour. Maybe it doesn't work like that at your house in Randburg, but people do really get killed for acting like thugs hwne they aren't.
Maybe you should go give your Kiyosake another read. Put away the fake bling and stop lying. People might actually start taking you serious.
