It was hard to watch that movie without ga**ing at Leo's Rhodesian accent esp his mis-pronouncing the word "Shona" *cringes*

Think it was a decent script on an important subject but being more familiar with the supposed main character made me overly judgemental.

That was my critical view point on the movie as well, Leonardo spoilt that a bit...... they could've gotten a better main character.....

with tate on this one, the rhodesian come boere act ddnt quiet cut it out for me..tha movie did touch on a really important subject...funny how this is being discussed on a hip hop site considering how heads digs the bling..rememba kanye west on diamonds of sierra leon(never mind the spelling) bt he be rocking the biggest stones...now on the real who goes out to any diamond retailer and asks is this a BLOOD DIAMOND? most probably the person selling doesn't knw, care...she's all abt selling the ish...CATCH A FIRE i wanna c tht

Also the child soldiers were supposed to be from Sierra Leone right , but when they were speaking English they would have this thick West African accent but sometimes they would speak Zulu and Xhosa!!!!

I understand a lot of the extras were from S.A.

Important point about the error where they're supposed to be from Sierra Leon but speaking Zulu and Xhosa...until we're making our own movies, telling our own stories, Hollywood is gonna keep making their own errors...coz to most States peeps remember, Africa is one big "country".

They got Last King of Scotland right though..Unless any UG Headz can clarify mistakes. Whitaker actually learnt the language bits here and there, and his accent was believable-I thought he sounded like some UG peeps I've heard speak, it was'nt the generic "African Accent by an American Actor".
