Whoever really has the love of hip hop will know that i
was on Metro fm last week. Im busy promoting my
Ep that will be dropping soon. " To make your own destiny
you gotta change fate". While i was there doing my thang
when it was time for some listeners to call in and rate
if they feeling the me, and the of course all were very
impressed with what they heard. But its no coincedence
that Bob Mabena has called in two out of a couple of
times ive been there, to share his views on how Touch has
helped improve the standard of rap music in SA. People like
me show the improvement of rap music in this country. Im sure
he listens to the show frequently but only feels the need
call in when theres somebody who makes him put effort
and make that call.
Blowing my own horn? hell yeah! This aint your typical rags
to riches story, but i came from nothing and now im here
doing something and haters cant seem to understand. But its
cool, They say Touch only plays his friends on Metro. Well, i
aint Touch's friend.....but im gettin airplay. And at first when i
first came to Joburg and started recording a couple of songs
in the hope that real will recorgnise real and im surely gona get airplay.
But that wasnt the case, Touch didnt play my shit and we didnt
get off on the right foot.
But i knew that as long as i worked hard and smart, i knew would get
airplay and i did. Two years after moving to Jozi. So for all of yall
who didnt know, now you know. So dont mistake me for some rich
surbuban boy with all the connects who has everything easy, cos im not.
Not that there is anything wrong with being a rich, surbuban boy with
all the connects, cos 'real recognise real'.
With that being said, music can never be one thing. Do the kind of
music that brings peace and meaning to your soul. f*** what everybody
else thinks, There is too much wackness in this game. We dont
have artists who are superstar material in the SA rap industry. Some
have talent, but lack the charisma, the pa**ion, the style, the flair,
etc. Underground music is an important part of the hip hop culture, but
it doesnt define hip hop. Just cos u dont do underground influenced hip
hop dont mean uve watered down your music. Infact, uve grown cos uve learned
to speak from the heart through your music. " Musianship always comes
second to emotion".
