Video producing or editing software

Ok we all know Pro tools, cubase and fruity etc are the standard toys music makers use.

But when it comes to Video producing or editing, what software are industry standard and used all the time? I wanna make videos for fun.

Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, Avid Liquid Edition ...

Final Cut Pro and Avid are the standard as far as I know.
I prefer Final cut pro maybe just coz that's what we use at work but
There are a host of others such as after effects etc.

Is final cut pro for mac only?? or pc too?
