No holds barred for Ntsiki
Red-blooded men are drooling over the nude photograph of Ntsiki Mazwai published in the March issue of Marie Claire magazine.
Mazwai is one of 22 celebrities who posed starkers in the issue in a campaign to raise awareness about the high incidence of rape . Others include Mark Fish and Loyiso Bala.
Though other celebs did not go the full monty, Mazwai went the whole hog to the disapproval of some people who felt it was in bad taste.
Asked why she did it, she said she was being different.
“The fact that I am different is the difference,” the 25-year-old poet said.
She said the photo shoot was not meant to be sexual, but educational and to dispel social myths.
“This picture means that in spite of what a woman is wearing, it does not mean she must be raped. The perception that when you wear a short skirt you want to be raped is bull… . Women must be able to wear what they want without fear or hara**ment by any one.”
Asked what her publisher father, Thami Mazwai, thought about the picture, she said he had not seen it yet. Her sister Thandiswa initially agreed to be part of the shoot, but pulled out following pressure from her family.
“I am sure he will understand when he sees it. I’m lucky enough to be born into a family that understands me.”
