Shit how could I forget...
This morning in a taxi to work, this lady jumped on at Barry Hertzog. It costs R7.50 from there to town. She paid with R50 and the driver refused to give her back her change cause she was foreign.
The lady just burst into tears and what hurt the most is that the people in the taxi agreed with the taxi driver and starting laughing...

I think its 2 things:

1) The SA police has very little control in the loxion and squatter camps. People do this shit coz they KNOW they can get away with it.

2) Its a skills problem. "They are stealing our jobs" Why? Coz there is a skillz shortage domestically.

3) Its a poverty problem. Related to the skills problem, Xenophobia is positively correlated to lower income (lower skills) jobs

Sure the the people carrying out the violence are inexcusable but what are the authorities doing to address the aforementioned related problems.

This is a shame, I don't feel proud of being a South African at all. I mean...I thought Africa was a land for all....then now...we starting to create boundaries...nah this is so wrong...cause a lot of our freedom fighters went out to hide in above countries like Tanzania, Mozambique, Somali, when this country was facing its khrysis...and then we gonna chase them away....nah this is bad...!!!

Tsvangirai arrived at the Alexandra police station flanked by MDC general secretary Tendai Biti and was greeted enthusiastically by Zimbabweans who were displaced by the xenophobic attacks in the township north of Johannesburg.

The violence has thus far left 42 people dead and displaced 16 000 while 400 arrests have also been made.

Tsvangirai told the group that Africans were being divided by artificial barriers.

"There is no reason why one brother should hate a another," he said.

The Zimbabwean opposition leader told the crowd he will be returning to Zimbabwe on Saturday where he hopes to resolve the crisis in that country.

"Lets go home. Let’s solve this crisis," he said.
