Zambian President Mwanawasa has died

Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa died in a Paris hospital on Thursday after suffering a stroke earlier this week, South Africa's Talk Radio 702 reported.

The radio quoted a Zambian High Commission spokesman as saying that Mwanawasa died earlier on Thursday morning. Mwanawasa was taken to hospital in Egypt just before an African Union summit on Monday and Tuesday and then transferred to Paris.

BAnda seems the obvious choice, but Mwanawasa's own reelection has always been questioned by opposition parties there- they have always cited irregularities, so I dont know where this latest development leaves his party

Turns out his death has not been confirmed. All that has been confirmed is that he is currently in critical condition in some hospital in france.
