We all know what Crunk music is.....................well, f*** THAT!! It became
more commercialized ever since 2002. I wanna take y'all back to the Atlanta,
Georgia (ATL, Hotlanta) 1997, before Crunk became what it is now and the
ATL sound was very much like the Miami-Detroit sound. It was all about that
Ba**, Bankhead Bounce, Booty, and cars and way before Lil' Jon ran shit
yelling on tracks......................

Dj Screw and Lil Troy pioneered that ish.

You could say that but they were part of that Choppped and Screwed sound. They
made shit slow (which wasn't bad). Chopped and Screwed was more of a
Texas thing. I was feeling it for a while during the early 2000s until Mike Jones,
Lil' Flip, and Paul Wall commercialized it. I would say that the people that pioneered
the ATL Ba** sound were the same people of the Miami and Detroit sound:

                                     Miami:

Luke and the 2 Live Crew (even thought the 2LC are from Cali ex. Luke)
              69 Boys
                I-95
             Creep Dog
JT Money and the Poison Clan

                                  Detroit:

                               Derick Mays
                               Juan Atkins
                               DJ a**ault
                               DJ Godfather

This mix was from the late 90s even though the ATL Ba** sound started
in the early 90s. I'm gonna post some more ATL Ba** videos:

Here's two others...... I've seen the video for this song years ago but I can't
find it. This girl named INJOI sang a ATL Ba** remix of Ready for the Worlds
"Let me love you down". She was aslo signed to Jermaine Dupree's So So Def label and this song was mixed by the Ghost Town DJs

I know most heads here know (or gotta know) this song, it's still popular today:

...it never really mattered too much to meeee...let me loove you doooown. even if it takes all night...

i remember that. did someone else also redo it. why am i feeling like there was also another version with another vocalist.

 * knocks on the door of the thread *

but i just wanted to ask if this is just about that ATL ba** flavour or can we just do one big 'THROWBACKS' moment here. 'them were the good old days' got me all excited. didnt want to mess up. so i thought i should ask :) :-\

Well, now that you think about it, you could add some throwbacks, but only if they were
all about the ba**. But then again, I dunno.....I was about to add some Miami
and Detroit, along with Chicago sounds too.  I remembered when I was in Detroit and
Atlanta back in 97' and grew with the Ba** sound.

And yep, INJOI's version was a remake of Ready for the World's "Let me love you down".
Their's came out in 1988-89 ish, hers came out in 1997.

crew ran she Sunshine state............. THE 2 LIVE CREW

everyone on this board probably knows this song

This song was on the Friday soundtrack

I swear this song was a tribute to the "Simpsons" craze of the 90s

OK. I'm back again but I'm gonna give the FL sound a break and send y'all to where the Techno sound became established.......DETROIT, MICHIGAN!!!

This was an old school show called the "New Dance Show" which came out
after "The Scene" (a local Detroit dance show from the 70s). Techno and
ba** were also played along with Hip Hop. This reminded me of the days I
used to spend in Detroit with my cousins.

True that change is inevitable, i wonder "WHAT'S NEXT", the post-crunk era that is! How will hip-hop be like, what will hip hop be?

Well, I dunno. There are many styles that are many Electro styles that are influence by Hip Hop also mentioning that Hip Hop is electronic itself. In
California, Hyphy and Krump music are genres in the Hip-Hop/Electro scene.
MTV may mention them but it takes a while. At least they are not overhyped
by the media or they would fall in the same paths of Crunk.

No doubt! Ba** music would brighten anyones party (barbaques included).
I know Florida still has it on lock. I remember this security guard at my
college who was from Tampa and he remembered this song called, "Your
mama's on crack rock". At first, I never heard of the song until I actually
saw the video on Youtube. I couln't believe how old it was!
