if i spoke in general terms i would say that because of issues around blackness lighter skinned girls are more hyped in our communities, they grow being  told how beautiful they are all the time...such that they develop their selfhood around their looks...and respond more readily when that aspect of them is appealed to... but then again, you just can't generalize...no sirree...

I'm what black folk call "coffee colour" slap bang in the middle of the lite and dark skinned people. I have a lite skinned cousin who is twig thin...so that gets her a lot of attention because of those attributes (for lack of a better word). I don't think its ever been about colour when she has guys goin after her. it's usually just because she skinny. She, on the other hand refuses to date light skinned guys because she thinks it just looks odd. So she only dates dark skinned guys.

Nah, as a light skinned broad I beg to differ. And i too dont like lighted skinned guyz, I like them dark as hell or just white. But by no means are we more attractive due to our skin tone.
