I thought i was the only one who noticed the clear "South African Sound". I think he sampled Mr Rex Rabane. Its a tune used in a lot of local gospel songs  and some of Chicco Twala type projects.

And the crazy thing is that "He killed it".
I hope they payed our local artists.

Just out of curiosity is the anthem trademarked? and to who?

because the same melody is used for the anthem in Zambia, and it was the same in Zim until sometime back..

or is it trademarked a church hymn?

Exactly the Zambian and South african  national anthem theme  is the same so its no way Sa owns that trademark.

This is how I understand it. Enoch Sontange wrote it, W Mqhayi added a few verses. then it was adopted by the ANC during the struggle. ANC exiles all over the continent used it. It was also popularised at international gatherings like Organisation of African unity (OAU) - the predescessor to the AU. that's how people in Zim , Zambia, etc heard of it and decided to use it as it was about Africa as a whole.

That means the producer must have cleared the sampling issuses, if not the gon pay crazy cash.
