Its sounds nice....

The way I see things 2day...it's all about how good u are at that software u using....I know a dope cats using Sonar6. he's very good at it. I use Reason 4 and Sonar 6 myself.

It all about which Software Application 1 is comfortable with.....And most cats of 2day are using FL Studio...because its gat that appealing interface and very much user freindly...unlike Cubase SX and Sonar 6. ?uestion is...those guys using FL Studio.....will they be using it...if they didn't know that 9th Wonder is using Fl Studio...

A close friend of mine is using Acid Pro 7...because Nyambz is using Acid. Pete Rock is a king when its comes to SP1200, and there's plenty of dope procuders who r using SP just because Pete is/was using SP, but how many producers can mix like Pete Rock, Embee...quite few....the software can only do so much...the rest is up to your musical ear, ambition, pa**ion and love of music....and plenty of sleepless night.

I can give u the same sample and same software that Nyambz used for certain beat...but it will never sound like Nyambz...u know why because we as individuals differ when it comes to these thingsmusical ear, ambition, pa**ion and love of music.

The point I'm trynna cross is don't do it because u good at certain softwares or u good with computers...do it because u love music....Most IT dudes I know are into beat making thing...just because they good with softwares and computers....its musn't be like that....love of music should play the lead....that juts my 2cents

True. But having the right tools doesn't hurt - and neither does knowing how to use them. I'm never going to be Pete Rock, but why shouldn't I use what he uses? After all, he would know.

oh and i should warn u that REASON has what they call DR Rex drum loops but i promise i wont use that in this challenge of ours. (scout's honour by way of blood ;)), thatl be plain cheating, not to mention guaranteed demolition of whatever flip ur going to cookup

Oints here we go. 1st its the snippet of the beat, its changes and the open drums at the end.
Just a simple drum pattern to start this.

Here is another one. Snippet of the beat and the open drums at the end.
I used the same drum kits on both beats with simple drum patterns.

Sounds dope..
I've opted to leave the Roger Linn Drum style of drum programmin for now. I like Reason & FL drum programming 4 certain applications.
from then on is to program them drums live with tha nifty trigga fingaz using any tool with a decent sequencer & ppq resolution to churn out me style.

I'ma jump on this too with one of my favoritez...

Live is one of my prefered tools, 8 is out I think. Even Akai saw this niche & created a dedicated controller for Ableton.
use any music creation tool surgically except Sony stuff ala Acid etc..
thought this was a Reason thread?
that controller. sweeet!

Peace Knowledge!

got the drums for you dawg, what i did was to segment the drum pattern from the song and then later put back the song to which i laced the drums to in the first place...

here i have the drum line. it begins of with what id like to think is an intricate but laid back succession of percussions and open kick...the snares towards the end of every second bar are what in my opinion gives the overall drums an upbeat and playful tempo/rhythm...

after four bars i add the harder kicks to the lower layered pattern of percussion drums i spoke about earlier...these simply give the beat more of an energy and hardness, i was looking for something that knocked hard but not with a high frequency, so i chose the closed 808 and a breaking snare drum to dig firnly into the whole beat...give it a bump ;)
