I am struggling to acknowledge Afrikaans as a "black" language. I know you'll flip the dutch but come on, this language is 90/95% dutch.

It's not a black language. It is a slave language though, since it originated from Malay and other slaves in the Cape adapting dutch to suit them.

I had a nice discussion about this with a Dutch guy two weeks ago.

He said it sounds like little dutch kids sound when they learn to speak. We can understand each other if we both speak slow, but there are certain words and phrases which come exactly from the Malay language.

So, it is a big mix. You could actually call it a creole if you wanna be finicky about it.
