I am taking the discussion from the shoutbox into this thread so that we can give this "idea" a fighting chance of becoming more that some big talk that never got anywhere!

Why the album?
It's a tribute. My thinking is that the once mighty Africasgateway forums are fast becoming a ghost-town with interesting content far and thin and member numbers are dwindling like National Party politicians during floor crossing season. Allow me to misquote one-hit-album-wonder Craig Mack: "You wont be around [this time] next year"

So the idea is to preserve or give one last ode to AG before we all move on. One last collective effort.

Yes this town had its day and the writing is on the wall. Remember all the greats who roamed these AG streets? I'm talking Rushay, Nat, Rhoze, Supa, RR, Inyambo, Ootz, MrC, dP, Bafoza, Tate, Rob 1, Emile, Khoi, GodComplex, Nemesis, Native187, Khoi, TruSense(smh, nig still owes me money too but thats another story) etc 
We were all like the illegitimate kids of a flawed but loving father, Milkdaddy. Shane was like the white Zuma.

So how do we do the album?
Lets open the floor for suggestions...

Here is my suggestion: Suggestion 1.
> If you have a good unreleased song you can donate it to the project. If you are a rapper and want to record a new song we got beamakers whom we ask to avail some heat for this project.
>Secondly everyone will get a chance to drop a shoutout (e.g 20seconds) which you can email then we will create the interludes off that. This is what will gel the whole project together.
>After finalizing the tracklist I will create an account on soundcloud or similar platform especially for this project and in this way the AG era will be preserved for your grandkids.
 
We will need an album cover (where's childPoet?)

Beat? Anyone? I started making beats again so I will contribute (http://soundcloud.com/chiefmlu)

Whether we call it album or mixtape whatever. Or are the legal implications? I dont want anyone to be sued if someone takes the album and decides to bootleg (yes it will be that dope) and there's a legal process for example.

Any takers? Thoughts? Let's do this!

Anyway, I think an entire project is do-able if we tackle it on a track by track basis. On some slow and steady wins the race tip. I can contribute some raps to it. It'd be dope if we can get original material for this but should push come to no shove then, like Fahfee said, already existing unreleased tracks should be considered as well.

What's the timelines we're looking at here?

With reference to older gods, they'd probably be down if we just hit'em up. And it would only be right to (try) get them involved.

Not to mention that everytime I type AG into my browser and it opens up I breathe a sigh of relief. Surprised it hasn't died yet.

1 thing I know bout AG is that they disdain wack shit so if you know you not a rapper\singer dj, beatsmith or graphic designer then contribute with marketing or something else this not an opportunity for chance takers this shit has to be proper.
