I´m experiencing problems with my internet connection at the crib, so excuse the late post! Here’s a very simple Acid Pro 4.0 beat tutorial!

As you can see I’ve numbered certain areas on the workspace from 1-6
1 = Automation, here u can mess with tools such as EQ´ing, rollof, etc
2 = Mute button, SELF-Explanatory
3 = Solo Button, used when u want to hear a channel solo, also self-explanatory
4 = Surround Panning
5 = Track tempo setting, Time Signature (In this example were using a standard 4/4 structure), And Project key (A in this example)
6 = Loop region in this example it runs from 1.1-3.1 which is the equivalent of two bars.

Okay Lets Get started

as u can see i made use of six channels in this example namely, Sample, Snare, Kick, Hi-Hat, Crash8, and, Ba**!

U can see i chopped up the sample and changed the pitch (the numbering shown on the drawn sample indicate the amount pitch of the sample has been shifted)
Shifting the pitch of sample is an easy process and can be achieved by simply using the "+" sign on your keyboard to "pitch-Shift up" or the "-" Sign to "pitch-Shift down"

I decided to programme a simple boom bap drum pattern to facilitate your understanding.
As I said before the loop region in this example runs from 1.1 - 3.1!
As u already know a 4/4 bar has four equal parts (DUH!!) e.g. "1.1; 1.2; 1.3 & 1.4". Kicks are usually place in the "1.1 & 1.3" spacings while snares are placed in the "1.2 & 1.4" spacings. This is not a strict formula that must be adhered to, you can arrange your drums anyway you like. Hi-hats usually fall on every measure "1.1 --> 1.4". Don’t be shy to experiment, u can zoom in your loop region and programme really intricate drum patterns.

The ba** line is programmed in exactly the same fashion as the sample!

Okay I know this is a very simplified tutorial I just wanted to get everybody interested on the same page, rather than me going on an on I figured it’d be easier for all of us if u posted specific questions you may have and I’ll try to answer them as best I can.

I´m lovin track number 4 and 10 - Got a question...

I´m a**uming u produced both trax.

1. where the samples from for both? (Dont have to answer that.
2. on track number 10... what effect did you use... was it just a very full sample an you used a band filter to push through the melody? n..that "oh no aaah aah aah" (it kills me everytime) did you sequence it together or was it like that?

I gotta question for Nyambz, I was messing the other day and somehow I managed to get a piano-roll (almost like the Fruity one) to appear on screen. So I was wondering whether there is any way of making beats using  this and how do I make it appear again cause it would be madd nice to hook up melodies on it. And thanks man for the tutoarial, I´ll be looking forward to reading up the next one.

Go to "Insert", then "Soft synth" on the drop down menu! Select your desired synth and yor good to go! Its all midi though!
