So right now im marking students exams:

Before humans invented capitalism, when was there ever one artist in all human history, who ate from singing or poems or words.

artists must work, plough, kill a cow hunt... and then when the king calls you or there´s like a gathering, you go sing coz you´re the one who can and everybody is entertained.

before these modern times, ART was just a part of life and you went and killed a rabbit to eat...
but because we invented money, some artists can somehow find a way to dedicate themselves to this stuff full time...

except for when the European artists used to have to find themselves a patron, then they could paint fulltime.

Its unrealistic... even the most ´deep´ artists are caught in the idea that their art HAS to be sold... they HAVE to live off it to make an impact...

just give it away for free... if you can make a living... Great, make a huge living. If you cant... put up a website and we´ll all go read it or download it...

or join forums like this...
