FATBACK GETS PAYBACK
Group wins suit against Dr. Dre for copyright infringement.
*A federal jury has recommended that rapper-producer Dr. Dre pay $1.5 million for the unauthorized use of a ba**line taken from the 1980 song Backstrokin´ by the Fatback Band.
The suit was brought by the band´s British record company, Minder Music Ltd. in 2000. The suit alleged that the song "Let´s Get High from Dre´s "2001" album used the ba** line without permission and therefore committed song plagiarism.
