When Racism Pervades Personal Identification

I recently was told that our I.D. numbers contain a code(the last few digits apparently) signifying a person's "race". Does anyone know if there is any truth in this? How much(if any) of the I.D. number represents actual information other than date of birth and is not merely for uniqueness?

Just thought someone would know, what with all the savvy around AG!

i love racism..it keeps our country interesting,like that old white lady on the train who told me to that she isnt stupid and that i'm trying to rob her..ahhh..i love that old slut.

Yup the last three digits used to be a racial designation, doubt if it still applies cos when I renewed my I.D. book, post Madiba's inauguaration, those digits changed, but as far as i know I didn't change race.
