It´s a trend among Jozi emcees - even REAL ones - to flirt with kwaito (´cause that´s where the money´s at honey)...

and when the HOLY SPIRIT of HIPHOP convicts their a**es - they return to their roots.. to the essence...

and that is why Amu too so long after dropping "Future Sounds of Msawawa" to release product...

I bought the cd at Musica (Umtata).

There are many of reasons for releasing the cd only now. One is that there has never been so much interest & hype around Mzansi hip hop. Another reason could be that he feels confident that he has put togethor a good alubum. Look at emcees who released albums prematurely. It´s all about timing. Another reason could be that no company was prepared to distribute his music and he did not want to release an album no one can find in retail outlets - so big up to Ghetto Ruff for believing in Mzansi hip hop.

i don´t know under which rock you´ve been...

but Amu was the MAIN feature on a 1999 SONY MUSIC SA(that´s a major label)  release titled FUTURE SOUNDS OF MSAWAWA.

Amu was signed to Natives, a subsidiary to Sony Music SA at the time...

in July 2000 i visited Amu at his father´s studio in the Jozi CBD... cat had more beats and lyrics than you and yo mama can throw together in a year... enough to make any emcee feel confident to drop sh!t....

and then came Zola and the "money making" kwaito...

and that my young hiphop head... is what diverted Amu´s attention from what he REALLY wanted to do..

and just so u know... Ghetto Ruff is  also the label of POC and BVK...
it´s not like Lance is only believing in hiphop since the release of Amu´s album... he always has...
