I've stared death in the eyes,
a friendly smile and the touch to calm my surprise,
An honest face, no longer need for lies,
You are who you are, you face what you did,
No more church smiles an pretty wrapping for evil you hid,
So many try to make up wit a wife and a kid,
But theres no going back, this trains on a one way track,
You missed your station, no sense being a pillar of salt,
Life seasons us anyway, you always end as what you wanted,
No one but you in charge of dreams now blunted.
Some of us choose to dance with a knife.
We hold it close and beg for forgiveness,
And so i stand before this mirror and stare death in the eyes.
I see there was only one person to ask for mercy for my lies.
Now the innocent child that was me just cries.
