do you cats look forward to Hype this much? i mean apart damn cats got love for an average proudy south african mag, but at the end of the day atleast the mag exists, its better to have one average mag than no mag

hype magazine sucks, and blak boy i don't know about having an average mag being better than having no mag at all. look the truth is that hype sucks because the industry it tries to embelish also sucks. i'm not taking away from the suckiness of the magazine by attacking the industry and it proponents here, i'm just saying fungae doesn't suck alone. syd money is even worse because he tries to go anti establishment by attacking the one thing that sucked enough without having it's cause highlighted by some degenerate yank who believes in HYPE.

he and the editor of hype should just hush up and get on with it.

tate: so why don't the powers that be here on the AG come up with a publication of it's own. between all the people here there is enough material to sustain a quarterly publication that's not all about hype and no substance.

c'mon y'all think about it, there are contributors on the AG who have plenty to say about the state of the hip hop and just music in general. as crazy at this may seem there could be an element of truth to it. but hey what do i know? :cry:

I don't know what you guys thought but from reading the posts that were going on with Mr. hype, I could see that nothing would change. It's a pity that shit is ruled by the corprates in the world and hip hop has become a commodity to sell. Forget that hip hop has been around for ages, right now it's popular and the right way to sell anything they want. The magazine is just an extension of the hypocracy that is going and until something else pops up to take it's place, a rich and diverse culture is going to be dictated to, analysed and given insane boundaries. For me, we are united in our diversity and that is what hip hop is.

thuli:as f***ed as i may come across as being sometimes, i do happen to be serious here. look i happen to have ruined a couple of relations with some people i know in publishing but nothing a drink or ten and apologising wouldn't attempt to fix. we won't know what we can or cannot fix unless we put in some elbo grease and see for ourselves.

Thats right we need to take ownership & get our own isht..
Speaking for everyone @ the HIPHOCALYPSE we would be ready willing & able to contribute as we have done in the past to all AG initiatives..

So the delima is this:
As an up and coming artist do you still try get your isht to HYPE?
Coz then it seems as if you are just supporting ther HYPE-ocrasy..
But if you dont leverage off that then you are failing to take advantage of an extensie network to promote yourself & your product...
