Events: Jozi vs Ikapa

Why is it that Jozi gigs cannot stand a alone?
Why is it that when there is a youth gig it has to be kwaito-fied" to ensure attendance? Are the events promoters suggesting that there is no reliable miche for genuine full on hip hop gigs in Jozi?

take for example this weekend's Kwaito Summer Sounds gig feat. PROkid, HHP & SK & the rest of the Jozi kwaito artists..
For a Jozi hip hop or even any SA act performing in GP to make any money off performances do they have to kwaito-fie?

Why is it when I got to CPT I can walk into up to 3 random clubs & they will all be playing that real hip hop? but when I lived in Jozi there was not ONE reliable hip hop club?

fact of the matter is that cape town acts don't get anywhere near what they deserve to be paid... figure these 'established' cats in jozi r so demanding that one needs some kwaito acts to pull in the crowds to pay them!

have been advocating for a while that, owing to some of the lyrical content i've heard from cats in the cape, they ought to command more credibility!

I think the problem is faith. Promoter have no faith in the hiphop line-ups that hook up. Also they don't seem to like the hip hop crowd- something about bieng rough and what not. Bull shit i say!

But why can't the multitude of Jozi emcees carve out their own niche?
I mean there are so many up & coming emcees in Gauteng.
If the radio stations promoted them they'd create a followship & make it feasible for them to have exclusively Hip Hop events.
