@ afterbirth: dude i think you need to read the report submitted to the United Nations General a**embly on the Oil For Food programme. it's about 623 pages and just make a long story short go to page 103 - 114, and these pages are on Sandi Majali and there are reports and documents that clarify the issue. saddam was not trying to buy south african policy - as you might have heard there were some 2000 companies involved in this and Imvume was one of them. france has it much worse because it was one of their ministers that was involved thus directly implicating the government. in south africa it is much different - it is a company involved , and yes there had been speculation as to who the company really reports to, but on the face of it it's just the company involved.
