i am always curious how cats got into hip hop?

PS this is a long posting

i am reletivly young i am 23 right now
so you can imagine that in 80´s i was much younger.
about 9 or so, coming from a township i could not understand englih let alone what the rapers were saying ha ha,
so i heard 2live crew and i would run around screeming shit like
"f*** bin a nigga f*** bin a nigga"
ha ha shit was funny as f***...

my uncle was bumping all that 2live crew, Eric B and Rakim, PE, LL "Radio",

so i was "hearing" hip hop in the 80 but not really listerning coz i could only understand very little..the od "f*** the police" and that typa shit

in the ninties 1990 to be exact i guess thats when i really got into hip hop

i was 13 then

AmeriKKKa´s Most Wanted by Ice Cube
Mamma Said Knock You Out by LL Cool J
Wanted: Dead or Alive by Kool G Rap & DJ Polo
To the East Blackwards by X-Clan

were my first tapes i loved these motherf***ers to death, i still have the tapes, in my shrine

then frm then i was checking for shit

from then i bumped this shit

I have all this shit on tape
i think after 1995 i started to bump less of the new shit coz
it was like all the cats dropping albums sounded exactly like all the shit
i had heard already

till Funckcrusher plus...i was like  :-o

then it was rawkus ..i was also like  :-o

they came with genuinly fresh shit and i think thats when i deviated and started following the so called backpacker movement...blackstar, wordsworth, el-p, sole, some anitcon, jedi, J-live, J-Zone,cage, non-phixion, rise, apathy etc etc

right now i am so heavy and deep into the the underground scene that i hardly know much else about what is bumpin out there
imagine when someone told me recently that Boot Camp click just dropped recently i was like what the f***..

i am a perfect example of what has happened in hip hop, there is so musch shit out that heads ..real heads is now bumping different shit...blah blah blah

WOW... interesting stuff man...

1984 is so far back i barely remember...
but it´s a little like this...

i was 12 and in a gang called teh TERRIBLE SCHOOL BOYS
we were at war with the UGLY AMERICANS.. and the FANCY BOYS...
at the time all cool youngsters on the Cape Flats went clubbing either in Mitchell´s Plain (Route 66 or Club Fantasy) or in Wynberg (The New Yorker)..
so coming from school on friday afternoon you´d wash your Jack Purcells... dry them with a thick layer of creamy textured Vim on the canvas.. iron your Navada pants.. Pringle shirt...
Saturday afternoon you´d wait until 13:00 when the "ticket cats" on the trains clocked out - and jump on a train to Mitchell´s Plain to go clubbing...

Mitchell´s Plain was the territory of both our rival gangs.. so the only time you were safe was if u moved in mobs...

One afternoon 4 of us from my gang got banned from Route 66 for fighting (over chicks - can u believe that).. and we couldn´t hang out in Mitchell´s Plain Town Centre.. if our rivals were to find us by ourselves.. we´d be mince - literally(those days there were no guns.. not even zip guns.. knives and bush knives were the weapons of choice)..
So before we got spotted, we dipped into Club Fantasy (which was considered a sissy club at the time).
It was inside this club i got my first taste of "break dance". The guys that are today known as DJ RealRozzano and DJ Ready D, along with the guy everybody know as GOGGA - as young laities - were doing a breakdance exhibit... basic popping and locking.. and some mediocre floor moves...

i was awestruck... my jaws dropped... for some reason or the other.. i knew that I WANNA GET INTO THIS SHIT... AND I DID...

since then hiphop has evolved.. GOGGA became the first graf artist in south africa - his first piece was a "FRESH" piece in M.Plain on a vibecrete wall..
Rozzano became the first hiphop deejay in South Africa and Ready D became the hottest..

so there... that was my experience getting bitten...
