When I saw this title, I was afraid and I’m still afraid regarding my opinion about the subject. The subject is complex and difficult so I cannot resolve it overnight. I am an African. I do things the African way. I cannot write about African American music like a Western scholar. In my culture we live the past and the future in the present. When I listen to some African American music I can feel the past, the present and the future all at the same time. Now, the best way for me to handle this subject is to work by questions and answers.

Paarl / Cape Town, 26 March 2003

Cape Town based Afrikaans Hip Hop group Kallitz (pronounce “Coloureds”) will be live on stage at Club Mercury in Cape Town every Wednesday this coming April, supported by well known MC, graphic artist and beat boxer Marco Polo.

Performance dates at Mercury are 2, 9, 16 and 23 April 2003, doors open at 21:00 hours and the entrance fee is R 10.

Paarl / Cape Town, 19 March 2003

Cape Town based Afrikaans Hip Hop group Kallitz (pronounce “Coloureds”) will be live on stage at the Cape Town Festival this week.

They play the Night Vision stage on Friday, 21 March 2003 from 2 p.m.

Kallitz have recently played in Stellenbosch at the MFM Radio Pool Party, virtually bringing the house down.

They are with artist management company Mel.Vent Communications, who also manage KGB, whose debut album “The First Born” was nominated “Best Hip Hop Album of the Year”.
