The mining town of Jwaneng is a close-knit middle class community, remembers Apollo Diablo, and it is where he began to listen to worldwide prominent Hip Hop groups in the 1990’s – Digable Planet, Arrested Development, Tupac and Dr. Dre to name a few. The Passion Of The Hood Christ CD + DVD: It’s been two years plus since “The Book Of Shabazz: Hidden Scrollz” album was released, Shabazz The Disciple might currently be busy getting ready for the Killa Beez European tour but he’s official site has reported an upcoming street album “The Passion Of The Hood Christ”. While guest appearances is kept to a minimum, the production list features Cilvaringz, Carlos Bess, Godzwrath, Get Large, Shabazz himself, Yogi, Sikh Knowledge and more. No street dates has been announced yet. Shabazz has also just launched a new official website www.Shabazzthedisciple.biz. March month in the Mother City is famously known for it’s very friendly and entertaining “Cape Town Festival”, amongst all the events in the city and surrounding areas, there is the “In-Touch Community Festivals” which leads up to the main festival. Featured artists are normally local musical heroes and the young and up-coming. For the first time Mitchells Plain will be having it’s own “In-Touch Festival” dubbed “Invest in the Youth” An exciting live music program catering for the young and the old will be in effect on TWO Stages, never seen before in Mitchells Plain, the music styles will be Jazz, Funk, Rock, Hip Hop, R&B, Dancehall, Gospel and Kwaito.

Cape Town’s innovative hip hop crew, Writers Block are at the Armchair Theater, Lower Main in Observatory, on the 2nd of Feb 2006. This is their first event for the new year. For those not knowin’, the crew consists of DJ Big Dre, Konfab, Metabz, Vernon V and X the 24th. On the ever seismic type production is Saturn & Arsenic. These cats are like a time bomb waiting to explode. When it comes to live events this crew knows how to pull it off, giving hip hop heads the satisfaction required, non hip hop heads something to positively chat about for weeks and giving critics an optimistic aproach to hip hop. Widely known as a former member of the legendary Hip Hop duo The Artifacts, lyrical icon El Da Sensei is gearing up for the release of his second solo album, The Unusual, which will be released on February 28th on Fat Beats Records. This album brings a new edge to the New Jersey emcee that fans know and love. El Da Sensei started his phenomenal career over a decade ago with The Artifacts, and released his independent solo debut album entitled Relax, Relate, Release in 2002. The Unusual will deliver a different aspect of his versatile talent. “I definitely didn’t want to come like the last album,” explains El. “I felt like Relax, Relate, Release was a little bit personal for everybody.
