We have all been waiting, searching for an event that would bring the funk back into our lives, an event that would expose us us to some seriously fresh and tight music, an event that would bring forward thinking and fresh elements of the city together all in one spot.  And now it is here…  Rising in the East Music festival is set to be the most happening event in Ekurhuleni…in Gauteng actually with its tight mix of fresh, original bands, tight DJ's and it's market place which boasts some of Gautengs most talented designers and crafters.

The Hunter’s Refresher Session brought to you in conjunction with the City of Ekurhuleni will take place at the Dries Niemand Picnic Park, Kempton Park Golf Course and Sports Grounds, Ekurhuleni, on 12 January 2008.

Blige, Joss Stone, Alicia Keys and Kanye West, this internationally acclaimed Hip Hop remix DJ will be shaking up a stir in Johannesburg and Cape Town during the month of December. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, J.Period started his career playing parties in New York when he relocated there to study Graphic design in 1998. He then moved onto playing clubs later on as he became more experienced, and flooded the streets of with his award winning mixtape “The Best of NAS”, which put him on the map for greater things to come.

It is with great sadness that Jive Records announces the passing of Chad "Pimp C" Butler, a member of the celebrated rap duo UGK (Underground Kingz).  Jive Records' President and CEO Barry Weiss states: "We mourn the unexpected loss of Chad.  He was truly a thoughtful and kind-hearted person. He will be remembered for his talent and profound influence as a pioneer in bringing southern rap to the forefront. He will be missed and our prayers remain with his family and Bun B.  I've known Chad since he was 18, and we loved him dearly and he was a cherished member of the Jive family."

Spike TV has tapped Samuel L. Jackson, one of Hollywood's most dynamic movie stars and a familiar face to the "Video Game Awards," as host of the franchises 5th annual extravaganza. This marks the third straight year with Jackson at the helm. Spike TV's 2007 "Video Game Awards" tapes Friday, December 7 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and will premiere Sunday, December 9 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).
