Back to build their brand of hard but mass-accessible rap, platinum-selling Virgin Records hip-hop group DEM FRANCHIZE BOYZ have released a new single, "Talkin' Out Da Side of Ya Neck!" The track was produced by Bangladesh, who produced Kelis' recent international smash "Bossy." Currently impacting urban radio, DFB are enjoying the expected support in their solid Southern home base, with breakout radio leaders appearing in the Midwest. The video clip is an immediate add in rotation at BET's Rap City program.

South Africa's dominating force in hip hop, the Pioneer Unit, are proud to announce that they have completed a recording agreement with Khayelitsha representative, Rattex. They believe that Rattex’s lyrical skill, charisma and distinctive voice are going to make him a major force in South African Hip Hop in the near future, bringing much-needed credibility and genuine quality to the game.

Hip Hop artist Ali Vegas is set to release the album, "Generation Gap 2: The Prequel" in May 2008. In anticipation of the album release, Ali Vegas keeps us updated with the "America's Prince" mixtape. As one of the most recognizable names in hip-hop, Ali began his career in the late 90's and at only 25 years old this artist is sure to break ground with his lyrical dexterity. The self proclaimed "Prince of New York" hails from Jamaica, Queens and has often been compared to hip hop greats such as Nas and Jay-Z. In 2006, Ali Vegas signed to Lamar Odom's label, Rich Soil Entertainment where he has worked with producers ranging from J Nice to Midi Mafia.

During 2005 the Cape Town cultural sector, in particular the jazz community was taken aback when legendary jazzman and saxophonist Robbie Jansen became seriously ill. Family, friends, fans, promoters, deejays, radio personalities, night club owners and live music venues united to contribute to Mr. Jansen’s hospital and medical bills.
