Jern Eye was born in 1978, raised in Los Angeles during the 80’s through the advent of gang culture and the rising underground hip-hop scene. Immersed in all facets of hip-hop, Jern Eye developed his craft by attending freestyle battles at underground clubs in L.A. such as The Foundation, UNITY, and Project Blowed. After meeting fellow emcee Spear Of The Nation in high school, where heated rap battles would usually take place, Jern Eye and Spear came to form the hip-hop group Lunar Heights shortly after graduating in 1996. After recording many demo tapes together and playing local shows, they decided to migrate to Oakland in 2000 to further pursue their careers by becoming part of the Bay Area independent hip-hop scene.

While living in Oakland, the group rounded out its roster by adding Khai Sharrieff, also a Bay Area transplant from Connecticut, in 2001. It wasn’t long before they gained a reputation for high energy shows and dense lyricism, touring with acts such as Crown City Rockers, The Pharcyde, and The Procussions. In 2003 The group signed it’s first record contract with independent label NatAural High Records, and released their first album, Crescent Moon, in 2004 to critical acclaim. In 2006 Jern Eye released his first solo album Authentic Vintage, also on NatAural High Records, cementing his position as one of the Bay Area’s luminary hip-hop artists. Jern Eye went on to tour with members of Hieroglyphics and Living Legends later that year, establishing himself as a contending solo artist.

Drawing inspiration from his favorite artists such as Erik B & Rakim, De La Soul, The Pharcyde, N.W.A., and Nas, Jern Eye continues to make music in the vein of real hip-hop artistry. In 2009 Jern Eye signed a record deal with the ABS-CBN imprint MYX Music Label, and is scheduled to release his sophomore album Vision in October. The album features production from Illmind, Jake One, Keelay & Zaire, DJ Vinroc, Def Supreme, Phil Jahns, and Artek. Vision will also feature collaborations with artists Cali Agents, Mistah F.A.B., Zion I, Guilty Simpson, Nightclubber Lang, and others.
