INTERNATIONAAHLL

DMX found himself arrested the other day for using profanities during a
performance in Port Of Spain Trinidad. Apparently cursing in public is
illegal in the small Caribbean Island. Earlier this year Trinidad
authorities halted a performance by Foxy Brown when she started talking
nasty. Why DMX was booked is not quite clear, especially when one considers
that damn near every record he puts out is full of profanity. In any case,
DMX was arrested and put in jail making that his second time being locked
down within a week.
On the flip side, look for DMX to be featured in a new movie entitled
‘Romeo Must Die’ starring martial arts expert Jet Li. I hope DMX doesn’t
get his butt kicked in this movie. He’s set to play a bar owner named Silk.

———————————-

Heartfelt emotions go out to veteran producer/ artist Poetic who is best
known for his work as a member of The Gravediggaz. Earlier this year Poetic
was diagnosed with colon cancer and now his condition has taken a turn for
the worse. He is now in serious condition. On August 24th at Tramps Nite
Club in New York City, Rakim, Prince Paul, Das Efx and Craig Mack will do a
benefit concert to help raise money for his chemotherapy treatments. There
will be a second benefit sometime in September. The news about Poetic has
been disheartening and the fact that he has to raise money for treatments
is scary when one considers the cost of health care and how many of us are
not adequately covered in the event we are suddenly afflicted. I’m not sure
what’s the deal but I hope rap artist are covered with some sort of
comprehensive health plan? Why is an artist as well known and successful as
Poetic put in a position where he has to raise money for treatment?

HIP HOP HOORAY – BY ARTHUR VAN WYK

I scheme the focus of last week’s urban entertainment was Cool Funk’s
HIP HOP HOORAY at piano lounge. Hiphop heads really represented at this
function.. EVERYBODY WAS IN THE HIZOUSE..
This event kicked off with what is referred to as “commercial” hiphop
and heads just bobbed…
Shit really kicked when DEE(as he is generally known) aka DJ READY D
started dropping bombs on peops in the house – DAMN THAT SHIT BUMPED..
HIPHOP hasn’t been so vibrant and kicking in a long time.. i dare say.

OTHER jocks that represented was D-FORM, ROBIN THE MAN and ROZZANO X.
FUCK – Y’ALL SHOULD’VE BEEN THERE..

THE PLACE WAS PACKED – FROM THE DANCEFLOOR, TO THE BAR – THE STAGE AND
THE BALCONY.

LIVE ACTS THAT SPIT FIRE WAS “M”, ANGEL, CARLA DIAMOND, AND COOL FUNK.
MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE WAS THE MC FREESTYLE BATTLE – THEY CHEWED EACH
OTHER UP..SHREDDED MEKAAR TO PIECES GAZIE…
EMCEES ALSO HAD THEIR OWN LITTLE PRIVATE FREESTYLE GETDOWNS ON THE
BALCONY(kinda made me wonder why all these guys come all the way from gugs
to getdown on a balcony in town – why go thru all the trouble?)

THE NIGHT WAS ABSOLUTELY “BOMBADACIOUS” –
THE FUCKED UP PART THOUGH – WAS THAT AT 06:50 (one hour before the supposed
12HOUR EVENT was to end), DJ WAKES TOLD PEOPLE TO “FUCK OFF HOME”…
AND ALL THAT AFTER EVERYBODY PAID R15 TO GET IN AND SUPPORT THEM.
(even i paid – after i was promised free admission)
all i can say is: “CHECK YOURSELVES”
THE CLIENT IS THE LIFEBLOOD OF ANY BUSINESS.

HUMOUR

Jesus and Moses were playing golf one day on Earth. The course they were
on had a particularly difficult hole, and Moses expressed his doubts that
Jesus could make the shot over the water.

“Ah no, Moses, I think I can do it,” explained Jesus. “I’ve seen Arnold
Palmer make this shot, and if Arnold Palmer can do it, then so can I.”

Moses rolled his eyes and let Jesus try.

Sure enough, the ball splashed into the water. Moses parted the water for
Jesus, who went in to retrieve his ball.

Jesus, however, was not ready to give up. “I know I can do this, Moses —
I’ve seen Arnold Palmer do it, and if he can do it, then so can I.”

True to form, however, Jesus’ ball ended up back in the water.

Moses parted the water, and Jesus went in to retrieve the ball.

“Look, Jesus,” said Moses. “Try again if you like, but I’m not parting the
water for you again.”

“Fair enough, Moses,” said Jesus. “But you know, I’ve seen Arnold Palmer
make this shot, and if Arnold Palmer can do it, then so can I.”

Once again, Jesus’ ball was in the water. Jesus proceeded to walk upon the
water to get it. Another group of golfers came up behind Moses and saw
Jesus walking on the water.

“Holy Cow!” one of them said to Moses. “Who does that guy think he is,
Jesus Christ?”

“No, that IS Jesus Christ” said Moses, rolling his eyes. “but he THINKS
he’s Arnold Palmer.”

A pious man, who had reached the age of 105, suddenly stopped going to
synagogue.

Alarmed by the old fellow’s absence after so many years of faithful
attendance, the Rabbi went to see him. He found him in excellent
health, so the Rabbi asked, “How come after all these years we don’t
see you at services anymore?”

The old man lowered his voice. “I’ll tell you, Rabbi,” he whispered.
“When I got to be 90, I expected God to take me any day. But then I
got to be 95, then 100, then 105. So, I figured that God is very busy
and must’ve forgotten about me, and I don’t want to remind Him!”

WELL WELL WELL! IT SEEMS THAT EVERYTIME I READ URBANTAINMENT I’M PLEASANTLY
SURPRISED. ONE THE MOST DIFFICULT THINGS TO DO WITHIN HIP HOP CIRCLES IS TO
TELL
SOMEONE WHEN THE HAVE “EFFED UP” MUCH BETTER WHEN THE PERSON REALISES THE
MISTAKE BY THEMSELVES AND MOVES ON. SO WHO SAYS HIP HOP HEADS CAN’T MATURE.
MUCH STRENGTH MOTSWAKO

In future, read through your unbiased URBANTAINMENT before you clip the send
