Future soul singer/songwriter Nylo shares her tender tribute to Audrey Hepburn, whom she considers “the most beautiful woman to ever grace the silver screen,” with “Breakfast At Tiffany’s,” the third taste from her upcoming mixtape Indigo Summer, due July 16th. Her tenuous connection to that one faded lover she just can’t shake is accentuated by her delicate and raw falsetto, a haunting force that weaves with producer Jerry Good‘s ethereal layers of instrumentation. The result is a thoughtful tableau-prodding but shy, guarded but still willing to expose Nylo’s tempestuous soul. The track illustrates her uncanny ability to create an clear vibe in her own way – “Breakfast” holds a sense of dreamlike melancholy while still maintaining strands of hopefulness, avoiding the minor keys and instead relying on etheral vocals and lilting poetry to illustrate the tortured rawness of her expression toward the one figure from whom she cannot separate: “Sometimes, when I dream, / it just feels so real […] Do you ever think of me now / it’s been a couple of years / but everyone once in a while / it still feels like you’re here.”

VICE’s Noisey premiered the track, noting how the combination of her vocals and the “lush, pillowy arrangements” leads the listener to reflect on life. Nylo gives a little guidance about the sort of reflection she is encouraging: “People, even more than things, need to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Never throw anyone out.” Nylo’s full project Indigo Summer will be released for free onJuly 16th.
