There has been a call for all spontaneous dancers in Gauteng schools, to partake in a life time opportunity to showcase their talent on huge platform. The Dance 2 Yo Rhythm, Hip Hop talent competition forms part of the Gauteng Carnival 2013. This project is powered by the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation with the intended effect of powering the youth through fun mediums like dance and to also highlight safety in these communities by combating teenage pregnancy, underage drinking and drugs in the community. The carnival has over 15 000 people in attendance, thus creating the biggest platform in the country for an upstart dancer, graffiti artist, poet or emcee.

Last week, SL Jones announced his new mixtape, Way Of Life No Hobby. Jones has again partnered with a single producer, Metro Boomin, for the 13-track effort, which will be hosted by renowned DJ and record executive Don Cannon. And while the Little Rock rapper has been tight-lipped about features on the project, today, with the second leak from the tape, following last week’s “Big Bank (No Ones),” Jones is also unveiling the tape’s first guest. The song, “America’s Nightmare,” features breakout rapper, and recent Atlantic Records-signee, Kevin Gates.

Legendary hip-hop collective Hieroglyphics Imperium and Linden Street Brewery are proud to announce a partial line-up of performers for the 2nd Annual Hiero Day, which will take place on Monday, September 2, 2013 (Labor Day) from 10:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Linden Street Brewery, located at the Port of Oakland. Following up on the success of horror comedy A HAUNTED HOUSE, A HAUNTED HOUSE 2, from Marlon Wayans and director Mike Tiddes, will go into production via IM Global’s Octane division Monday, it was announced by IM Global founder and CEO Stuart Ford.

Grayskul, the Seattle duo made up of rappers Onry Ozzborn and JFK, release their video for “Face and the Fang” today. The video, shot by Eric Miller, provides nightmarish imagery to match the dark lyrics of the track and is the first released from their upcoming album Zenith. The visual features each rapper in settings that fit their individual styles: Onry being the more mysterious half and JFK having a more aggressive rap approach. Onry simply explains it as “a day in the life of your neighborhood vampire and ghost ninja out trappin’. You know, the everyday norm.”

Austin, Texas rap group League Of Extraordinary Gz release their video for “Attitude” today on VEVO. The J. Jones-produced track is the lead single off of the League’s upcoming debut album, #LeagueShit, which will be released on October 15th. The video, directed by Zach Villifana, was inspired by recent fan reaction. “When we performed the song live,” recalls the League,” it was well-received – real high energy and it evoked emotions that anyone could relate to. We wanted to deliver a video that brought the same energy and emotion.”

Inspired by the recent killing of Larry Jackson, Jr. by an Austin, Texas Police officer, Austin’s own League Of Extraordinary Gz have released a track titled “APD”. The League, who’s popularity has been growing far beyond the boundaries of Austin, are using their platform to bring awareness to the recent shooting, which they and many others in the community feel was unjustified.
