Austin, Texas rap group League Of Extraordinary Gz release their video for “Attitude” today on VEVO. The J. Jones-produced track is the lead single off of the League’s upcoming debut album, #LeagueShit, which will be released on October 15th. The video, directed by Zach Villifana, was inspired by recent fan reaction. “When we performed the song live,” recalls the League,” it was well-received – real high energy and it evoked emotions that anyone could relate to. We wanted to deliver a video that brought the same energy and emotion.”

The League also decided to reference the shooting of Trayvon Martin in the video, recast on Austin’s MLK Blvd. and highlighting the vivid imagery as the video’s main character is seen buying a pack of Skittles and an iced tea. And though Trayvon was killed in Florida and not Texas, the depiction serves as a fitting follow-up to the group’s recently released non-album cut, “APD,” a track that speaks out against police brutality in general, and the recent Austin Police Department killing of Larry Jackson, Jr. in particular. “If you listen to the song it gives a perspective of the emotion that may have triggered that event,” explains the group. “Someone may be going through things and have a fucked up attitude which can lead to a negative outcome. Knowing that it was a sensitive topic, we didn’t want to come across as if we were exploiting the issue. Ultimately we knew if it was shot tastefully and folks listened to the song they would understand how it relates to the song and message we are delivering.”
