EWOK (South African hip hop artist) now joins the growing list of artists and cultural workers who have cancelled or refused to perform in Israel or at Israeli funded events. These artists include: Gil Scott Heron, Roger Walters, Pete Seeger, Bono of U2 plus many others.

The premium glitzy venues La Toscana and Beira Alta Restaurant in Montecasino played host to this years star-studded annual industry party that kicks off the MTN SAMA17 celebrations. A glamorous yellow carpet celebrity affair, the party saw the cream of South African music stars, celebrities, recording industry executives and top media from across the country celebrate the news in style.

The second round winners of the Afrikaans HipHopKop competition was recently announced. After receiving around 90 entries the following 5 winners (as chosen by the judges EJ von Lyric, DJ Azhul and Gian Groen) are: Cream, JBux en Schaik, Hakkiesdraad Hartman, Ill Huminatie Getuies and Lee Ursus. The six finalists for the first round of the Hiphopkop contest was recently announced. There are 6 finalists (five selected by judges and one selected by popular vote). They will also perform alongside DJ Ready D and Jack Parow at the Artscape in Cape Town on 28 January at 19h00.
