Always one to tell it like it is, comic genius Ed Lover strikes again as he wrestles with some of the ridiculous things going on in American pop culture. On his 17th episode of “C’mon Son,” Ed blows off Paris Hilton and dusts Soulja Boy from his shoulder over the latest thing to go up their noses. Ed then puts on his So You Think You Can Dance judge hat on to eloquently critique Glen Davis and Brandon Jennings’s “suspect” Dougie and Gaga dance moves and then sinks his teeth into the online rap-phenomenon 50-Tyson.

Annansi Clothing Co. has launched Demand Details! its charity arm which fosters consumer education and responsibility primarily surrounding the topic of the conflict diamond trade. Demand Details! launches with Annansi Clothing Co. teaming up with filmmaker Kareem Edouard for the debut of his documentary short Bling: Consequences and Repercussions at the 4th Annual H2O (Hip-Hop Odyssey) International Film Festival November 6 – 12, 2005 in New York City.

The Fashion Group International in New York has nominated Africa-inspired street wear label Annansi Clothing Co. for the prestigious Rising Star Award. The award, given by a committee of fashion industry professionals, honors individuals who are “up-and-coming style-makers of the future”. Previous winners include Keanan Dufty, Ron & Ron, and Y & Kei. This nomination adds to the exciting year Annansi Clothing has had following involvement in two other groundbreaking fashion events: the Redefining African Style music and fashion launch, and Bring and Buy, a London Fashion Week project curated by renowned fashion photographer Nick Knight and i-D Magazine.

Once an aspiring clothing designer, J. Anthony Brown was originally pursuing a fashion career when he was just $316 short of tuition money and ended up on stage at a local Atlanta comedy club some 20 years ago. Though he’s a successful comedian today, having tackled radio, television and film, the burning desire to create designs has always haunted him. It’s evident in his flair for designer suits and his vast collection of alligator shoes.

More than 25 years ago, when deejays first developed break beats and emcees began rhyming to music, the term “Hip Hop” was coined. “B-boys” or “break boys” started going to parties and doing moves that were the basis for Hip Hop dance. (New York) Over the past few years, music industry moguls such as Sean “P-Piddy” Combs and Jay-Z have strutted through music videos wearing remakes of football and basketball jerseys worn by famous sports icons of the past. Husband and wife team, Rodney and Knia Bonds have discovered a way to honor the legends of Hiphop with the debut of their brand new streetwear clothing line RTB Apparel and its’ inaugural product titled Rap Throwbacks. RTB Apparel has set out to prove that throwback jerseys are not just for athletes. Rodney explains, “We had to build a brand from the Rap Throwbacks line. RTB Apparel came out of that. The product basically represents fashion & Hiphop.”
